We're heading back to WDW in February. Hubby was just reading about Hayrides over at Fort Wilderness to watch the MK Fireworks. Can anyone share their personal experience??
There is a "hayride" (no actual HAY is used, but a wooden wagon with benches all around, drawn by two horses) that departs from in front of Pioneer Hall (the Hoop's theater) at about 7pm and again at 9:30pm.
The hayride costs about $8 per person (or so) and lasts about an hour.
The driver takes you thru the campgrounds.
She/he will answer WDW (and horse) questions and the kids seem to love it.
There are even a couple of blankets provided on colder nights.
No reservations are required, just walk up to the hitch area with the sign that says "Hayrides" (not "Carriage Rides", that's another attraction.)
This has been going on for decades and most guests don't even know about it.
As to seeing the fireworks, that is ONLY possible if they happen to take place DURING the time your hayride is going on.
If the timing works out, please be sure to tell your driver (they are very friendly and accomodating) before you depart that you'd like to see the fireworks during the ride.
If you are taking the 9:30pm Hayride, the driver will take you down to the beach to have a "private viewing" of the Electrical Water Pageant.
Its really kind of special.
Enjoy!
