I missed it, and it isn't on youtube now....don't have time to watch the whole thing on hulu.....

Just wondering how he handled it. I feel bad for the guy. Not in the sense that he can leave w/a hefty settlement...just that I think he got the crappy end of the stick.

I did. It was really good and I was very impressed with him.

He was himself--funny, gracious, and self-deprecating. He showed pictures of his staff and praised their work, he expressed gratitude at having been able to host The Tonight Show at all, even for just a few months, and he said that he had appreciated what he and NBC has been able to accomplish together in the last 20 years together during his tensure at SNL, Late Night, and at The Tonight Show.

He gave a very heartfelt thank you to the fans that have supported him over the years and recently--he actually choked up a bit during that one. And he said that whatever he did next, he and his co-workers would find a way to make it fun.

Will Ferrel ended the show by inviting Conan up to jam on Freebird...and then my %#&$* DVR cut off, so I have no idea what the absolute last sign-off was.

There was nothing special at the end end. They just finished the song and then it went off the air.

thanks for the scoop...........sounds like he went out with grace. :lovestruc

He had to. I believe that was part of his settlement package. No more bashing NBC. They paid him in excess to be gracious. I heard he alluded that he will have a show somewhere, by saying "Next time," or "Next show."

He may of got the crappy end of the stick,,,but he will come out fine I'm sure:thumbsup2

I don't think people will watch Leno if/when they move him back to 11:30. Not in the numbers NBC needs to pull themselves out of this mess.

And they have no programing to show at 10:confused3 We were talking about this the other night. We only watch 1 night of TV on NBC--Thursday, and even that night we are losing interest in. Many of my friends are the same way.

Last nights episode was a nice ending.

They were talking on the radio that the "no bashing" part of the settlement was after he left NBC, but they did give him some leeway this week. They just didn't want the years of NBC jokes that Letterman has had:rotfl:

Yes, he went after Leno with a vengeance these past couple of weeks. Jimmy Kimmel, too. I think both of them are afraid Leno will pull back in the ratings as he will be in direct competition against them again. Make Leno into the bad guy so people will watch them instead. I actually found that kind of a pathetic strategy. Although, some of the jokes were hilarious.

I watched Conan last night. I thought the show was great. I knew he would get choked up at some point, how could he not? I look forward to seeing him on TV again.

It did make for some great late night TV for a change.

I do wonder how people will take Leno now...I think many see him as the bad guy in all of this.

I don't see it that way. I think that's how Letterman & Kimmel would like people to think of him. I think the people who watched him before will go back to watching him. I don't care for Letterman & Kimmel. Leno's past ratings spoke for themselves.

He didn't volunteer to leave the Tonight Show. He was pushed out by the previous contract agreement for Conan. That had been a mistake back then.

Conan's show tanked in the ratings and they offered the show back to Leno, who I think, had the BEST ratings. NBC's old motto was "The leader in late night TV."

In any other business, if people get offered a fantastic job, even taking over the same position of a friend or well respected colleague that got fired, it's NOT personal to jump at that chance and take the position. Of course, people take that opportunity handed to them.

Letterman & Kimmel are just running scared & crapping their pants. If Leno pulss in the big ratings AGAIN, it will really say something about their shows.

It will really be helpful if Leno is lucky enough to get a Kanye (after dissing Taylor at the awards,) or a Hugh Grant moment for his first night back. :thumbsup2

I thought it was a nice show. It was just kinda sad I felt like I saw someone who had their dream crushed abit.

I have always loved Conan. I hope he gets a deal with Fox, comes on at 11 and pulverizes Letterman and Leno. I like Letterman, but Leno does come off looking mighty bad in this. I just want Conan to succeed because he seems like a great guy. I liked that he told young people last night not to be cynical, but to work hard and be kind and amazing things happen. That is a good man for you. I hate that he only got to be the host for 7 months, but at least he is a part of Tonight Show history. That probably means a lot to him.

shoot i thought you were talking about conan the barbarian, i love that movie.

Of course I watched Conan last night. I've been watching Conan religiously every night since 2001!

His speech was wonderful at the end. Why is NBC doing this?! They made a huge mistake.

I will not be watching the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, that's for sure!

I love Conan and I hate that he has to leave some of his characters and gags behind.

bolded mine---I agree! And I really think a lot of people won't either. Sure, he'll get the first couple weeks high numbers, but he will fade.
