HI. I am new to the transportation board.

I have not rented a car in a very long time (10 yrs ).

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me find the best rates for oct. 11 pick up at MCO around 9:30 A and drop off oct.17 at MCO at about 5:30 P

I do not belong to AAA or any wholesale club but would be willing if it was worth it.

I have looked on the rental websites but havn't seemed to find much in the way of a good rate.

If I am asking for to much if someone could just point me in the right direction of where to look that also would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.:)

I use Budget. Their rates are comparative to other car companies. But what convinced me was the low deposit required to rent a car. They only require the cost of the rental plus 25 percent or two hundred dollars for deposit on a major credit card or debit card.

I have found that most rental companies require larger deposits than budget. I have also found that most companies do not let you rent on a debit card however, budget does.

Sign up for the fastbreak program which they offer. It is really simple to sign up for. Simply print out the form and fax it to budget. However, that being said sometimes it takes as much as 60 days to get this set up. So do this in plenty of time. To get it before you book your rental car for your vacation.

By signing up for this it makes your car rental process much faster .They keep all of your information in a data bank so all you have to do is show your drivers license and they hand your keys to you it is that simple. You don't have to deal with endless questions from the people at the service desk.

You will also get a slight discount by using the fast break verses not using it.

Please note when making any reservations make sure that you input your fast break number whether on - line or on the phone.

I know this seems long winded but I have one more piece of advice. Keep checking the rates even after you book your reservation. Sometimes specials are offered after you book. If this is the case simply book a new reservation and then cancel the old.

Best advice I can give you is www.mousesavers.com
http://www.pcpages.com/rentalcodes/

Alamo lets you rent with a debit card, they charge at the beginning of the rental, no additional hold/deposit.
National, no debit card at the beginning of the rental, but accepted at the end. Only the amount of the rental on hold. No additional deposit.
You can join National's Emerald Club for free via the mousesavers site.
www.pricelessvacations.com has a nice code for both Alamo and National and coupons too.
http://www.bjsvacations.com/promotion/bjs/carrental/default.asp
Since anyone can get there, I would assume the codes and coupons are for public use.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Gail. I am trying to decide whether or not to fly and rent a car as prices on SW dropped yesterday out of my home airport. I know I can come out pretty even on the drive vs. flying part. It's just the car rental part I'm unsure about. I think staying on Disney property we don't really need the car for the 2 weeks, but I know we will make 2 trips for groceries and an outlet mall trip. This whole thing may get to be too cost prohibitive. I just wish I could do the flight thing--getting there in 1 1/2 hrs. vs. 14 1/2 drive.
