Anyone want to go to Ireland???

My brother's gf's parents give their kids 2 roundtrip plane tickets every year for their birthday's for anywhere they want to go. My brother and his gf live together and this year they decided to use them to go to Ireland for two weeks. It's all I've heard about for the last 6 months and I'm so jealous! It looks beautiful!!

Sure does :thumbsup2

My dd24 at the time, actually won a trip to Ireland given away by the Guinness Company. She went with a friend and had a wonderful time. They flew into Shannon, and stayed the first and last night in a Dublin hotel (thinking Marriott) and the other 4 nights they traveled and stayed in B&B's which they were given a choice of and reserved on their own. The driving was a bit rough but they had a GPS and an automatic car. She would go again in a heartbeat. The people were very nice to them, and they loved the food. All in all, a great trip for a first time "across the pond" traveler.

That looks like a great deal! We just got back from our St. Patrick's day trip to Ireland (ignore my ticker, I need to remove it). Ireland is a beautiful country and is a great place to visit! I love that the trip the OP linked is for the western part, because that seemed to be the most scenic area that we saw (apart from the Wicklow Mtns.) The Cliffs of Moher are spectacular!!

Had to edit to add....if you plan to book a trip to Ireland, make sure to bring lots of cash because it is an expensive country to visit! The euro/dollar exchange rate is somewhere around $1.35 for 1 euro. (I think the airport rates were around $1.50 for every euro). We spent more money while we were there than the trip cost (airfare/hotel).

A gentlemen on the dvc miscellanous board just posted some pictures from his recent trip.
It's on my bucket list.

That $140-210 per person in taxes added on to the price makes that great deal not quite so great as it first appeared :(

Sad story. My mother in law booked her dream trip to Ireland only to find out she had pancreatic cancer. She had to cancel her vacation and passed away 3 months after diagnosis. My DH and I would love to go but think it would be better for us to wait until the kids are grown. We have a Irish Fest here during the summer and Aer Lingus has deals like buy one get one free.

Tinkmom2- That is terribly sad!:sad1:

Perseval- I never think to look at the little taxes and extras.:sad2: You are right, that definitely makes it look like not so quite good a deal. But what a place to stay, huh?!!:thumbsup2

I don't "brag" much but we leave for Ireland this Sunday. We got awesome airfare/rental car deal. We are staying for 7 nights and only travelling the West/Southwest portion of Ireland. Staying in nothing but B&B's - I'm going for the views/scenery and my husband is going for the pubs/music....:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Thanks for the link I followed the "Click here" for more information. We are a family of three flying from the west coast.

The link takes you to Sceptre Tours site which showed more dates. The $599 is available in Nov - Mar 2011.
their quote for 3ppl flying from SFO on Nov 7 is $4273.79 taxes included. :woohoo:

My mom is going to Ireland with a photography group this May and her flight alone was $900.

Trip advisor had some good reviews of the manor.

I will report back if I learn more.

My dh and I were in Ireland last May for our anniversary. It was the one place I had always wanted to visit. We loved it there. It's so pretty!

Ooohhh ~ I do, this Shannon wants to go to Shannon Ireland. My grandma is from Belfast! My kids have a 3 day break from school next March (St Pat's Day being one of those days) we're thinking about going to Universal/WDW but maybe we'll visit Ireland. I tried the website and ended up calling ~ they don't have dates for next March yet.

My two DD's went to Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin in May 2009 for 7 days. The flight and hotel and breakfast each day costs were only $1100 each. They used europeandestinations and had no problems. I thought that was a really good deal.
