Anyone wanna scope out Animal Kingdom for us?

Honestly, I've heard so much contradicting news around Animal Kingdom that my head is spinning. Personally, I'm excited for AK. I love the idea of Expedition Everest and the safari at night. I like AK, but I stand alone in my family. If it wasn't for the new attractions, I'd have to sell my family on it this year. It was crazy hot last year (Christmas week) and the humidity at AK was a huge turnoff for them.

I digress. I'm looking for some answers to a few of my questions:

- Rivers of Light? Is it happening? What's with this new Jungle Book show? Did it replace it or is Disney pulling the Houdini and saying "look over here" while we continue to put off the Rivers of Light show?

- How will FP+ work? I've heard rumors that Expedition Everest won't go as late as the other rides as Disney preps the area for the nighttime shows.

- What time will the shows be? Will it be similar to Fantasmic with two showings?

1. Not yet on RoL
2. No idea. I don't think Disney has released any info yet.
3. No times yet on show.

Try doing a search on this forum or googling.

ROL was delayed due to some technical issues. Jungle Book: Alive with Magic is a temporary show happening in the same space, and premieres on Saturday. Show times are currently 9pm and 10:30pm

Everest has not been announced as having special hours (the trails, Rafikis Planet Watch, Wilderness Explorers and other similar things close earlier than the rest of the park). Messing with the system, I am able to select FP that start in the 7 o'clock hour. It's possible there will be some sort of closure during show times, but we won't know until Saturday.

Other updates to DAK include:
The Tree of Life Awakenings - periodic stories that will be projection onto the Tree of Life after dark. There are currently 4 of them that will play at random times throughout the night. Some are Disney themed, some are general nature stories.
New street entertainment - Carnivale in Discovery Island is a random street party type event. Wonderful music and dancing, amazing costumes, very fun to both watch and participate in
Africa will also have the Harambe Wildlife Parti throughout the night.

Tiffins, the new restaurant, opened today.

The Safari has been adapted and expanded to exist in the nighttime hours, featuring a slightly modified cast of animals and new information to be shared.

i'm sure the blogs, social media, news and boards will light up both friday night and saturday with information on the first nights of ak at night (and tiffins, and the new show).

I'm going both friday with the intent to ride things and maybe get a sneak peak at the show if they do soft open. Saturday I'm doing the tiffins dinner package with the first show and plan to linger around EE near the second show to see what happens ride wise since it's practically on top of the ride.

Edit to add, for ROL, an old rumor was anyone that dined in tusker or tiffins would get to see the show as a soft opening.. It just happens that tiffins did a soft opening today so maybe that's how friday is going to work.

Also, FP+ is now available. Availability's looking pretty limited through the beginning of June, so if you're at all interested in seeing this show, I'd suggest making your FP+s for the JB show now.
