I am planning on running some but will walk most of the race. I've done a few practice walk /runs and finished 13.1 in around 3 hours 10 minutes. Just curious if anyone else is going to be a slow poke like me.:)

Not walking but you walk faster than alot of people can run.
I plan on run 3 min walk 1 min just so i can enjoy myself. Hoping to finish under 2:45.

I'll be right there with you and so will a lot of other princesses. The first Princess Half, I walked the entire race. Now, I am like you and trying to put in some running. Funny, though, I'm just as slow running or walking. There will be lots of company back there. So, just settle in and have a good time.

I had been run walking, but with my recent issues might just end up walking the thing, though if I run/walk, its 1 minute of each. I know LOTS of princesses will be passing me and its all good!

Walking it here- from necessity. When I signed up I planned on walk running it (2/1 or something along those lines) but then I got knocked up :rolleyes1 So I am going to walk the whole thing. My walking is *almost* as fast as my *running* so it's all good. I will probably finish in 3:30 because I am going to make sure I do enjoy the race.

I'm walking with my former running friend- who broke her hip in training! She is fine to walk on it, but can't run anymore, so we are walking this bad boy.

I'm the same way. I walk really fast but can't seem to run very fast. I'm only 5' tall and have very short legs. I don't know if that has something to do with it. :confused3

Looks like there will be lots of us coming to the finish together!! Just remember to enjoy the race, but keep an eye on the time. You do want to be listed as finishing the race. the first year DD and I had so much fun along the way, that we almost didn't get an official "finishing" time even though there were at least 300 princesses behind us. I figured as long as I wasn't last, we were O.K. It doesn't work that way. You want to finish by 3:30 hours. A couple minutes later probably is all right. I don't know at what time, they do not consider your final time as official. I think everybody still got medals though.

I hope you don't mind the intrusion, but fast walking is gentler on the body and burns more calories than running so keep those legs moving. I have found that when I try to jog or run I am no faster than walking and my knees are not happy at all. Because of the knee issue I have improved my fluidity to the point where I did an easy 13.1 mile walk Thursday morning in 2:20.

Your shorter legs will require more rapid strides but by concentrating on smooth movements you can speed up the strides just like spinners do with their cadence on the exercisers.

I have to admit that it is really cool passing those who are jogging or running and I am working to lower my pace to 10:00mm for a marathon. I have 11 months until my 2nd marathon and Goofy Challenge.

For all you Walkers out there, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2!

I will also be walking the Princess Half, but then again I walk ALL my races as I am a racewalker vs. a runner. While I usually do a half in about 2:50 or so, I enjoy stopping for photos along the way so I anticipate a 3:10-3:15 finish with 20-30 photo op stops.

My plan is to walk most of it. It's the first race of the year and it has been hard to train for distance with all of the snow we have had. So, as long as I get in before the bus picks me up, I'm good.
