I am still hoping that I can get a lower airfare for Columbus Day weekend.

Anyone else waiting for lower rates?

I see you are in OC, MD. I just wanted to mention that I purchased my airfare for October several months ago on JB when it was only $59 each way. I'm flying on Sept. 29, Oct. 5 for $59 each way and a second trip I booked Oct. 31 for $59 and home on November 12 for $82 (which is high for us). My flights are all out of Dulles. Normally I don't book very early, but knew the prices would never be better than that. Guess I lucked out booking early. I hope the fares start to get better for you.

Dulles is a trek for us. We will probably end up on Airtran, but I am not really impressed with their fares right now. I think last year I booked for October at the end of July and got a pretty good rate. I'm just impatient. What I would really like is for USAir to lower their fares out of our rinky dink little airport, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

I bought my fares last year in June for my Oct trip. I had $79 on SW going down and $99 on United coming home to Dulles. The SW fare dropped to $64, so I got a credit.

This year I'm going down the end of Sept and I got JB for $74 and United home for $121 I think. I booked JB in early May and United I grabbed mid April, since the price had been at $150 for 2 weeks.

I don't know if you will see the rates drop too much this year. I'm still checking daily for a friend who is traveling from BDL to MCO for the same dates and the rates do change some, but the difference so far has only been no more than $25 less.
