Anyone used space saver bags?

I just bought some air tight space saver bags to pack some of our clothes in so we have more room in our suitcase for goodies to bring home. It says that they help prevent wrinkles.

Is this true?

They seem like they would promote more wrinkling. I was origninally thinking about packing our dirty clothes in them for the return home, but if they prevent wrinkles I will pack all our clothes in them for the way there.

I got the ones Walmart had and they got returned. I cannot vouch for the real ones but the knockoffs were not worth having. They leaked and saved no space at all. I would do a trial run if you buy one like I did. Sounds like a great idea for the dirty clothes though!

I've used the space savers from QVC.. Really good. Can't say they prevent wrinkles - as I never noticed. I've used them on trips to WDW for dirty clothes, or souvenir clothing that you pick up on the way. Jackets, too! We live in PA, so when we go down in the Winter, they help save space on cary ons, etc.

Go to your dry cleaner and ask for lots of those sheer plastic dry cleaning bags your dry cleaning normally comes home in. They won't save "space" (and don't take up much space), but will help with wrinkles (and organization):

When I travel I pack all wrinkle susceptible items (dresses, pants, blouses, jackets) on wire hangars then put them in the dry cleaner bags, then into the suitcase. That way when I arrive, just pull out of the suitcase and hang up immediately. I rarely need to re-iron or have stuff pressed.

For the kids, I pack their clothes and my smaller garments in large (2 gallon and smaller) zip-loc bags - underwear in one, socks in another ... You can suck the air out with a drinking straw then zip seal.

I have used them on several trips. I used it when I went to Paris and it was great, my clothes stayed wrinkle free, and I had a ton of room left over. Really the best part was at the end, all the dirty clothes went in and I had plenty of room for all my treasures!

I used the Samsonite Brand on a cruise last year. I actually packed 8 of DH's rayon "vacation" shirts in one bag...and they were almost wrinkled free! And it was amazing how much space they did save in the suitcase! I'm getting ready to pack for our upcoming trip and am tearing the house apart looking for them!!

Yep we use them all the time! We pack our pillows in them as well as some clothes that are bulky like denim shorts and such! We also bring some Downy wrinkle releaser just in case but havent had to use it very often! For the kids stuff (dont know if you are taking kids) but we packed their stuff in large Ziploc bags and they were great!!!

I dont think we would travel without our bags....that way we get more souveniers.

I live with my Space Bags (really--I live in a tiny apartment with limited closet space, and keep most of my clothes in the bags under my bed). I think I have fewer wrinkles than I did before I used them.

When traveling, I pack my clothes, including accessories, together in the small bags and then all I have to do is grab a bag out of my suitcase and get ready. It's great in the small bathroom on the ship. I can leave everything in the bag so that I don't drop stuff all over the floor and get it wet. This way, I also have sealed bags for all of my laundry on the way home!

O.K. HERE'S MY DUMB QUESTION OF THE DAY!! HOW DO YOU GET THE AIR OUT OF THE SPACE SAVER BAGS?? I HAVE READ SEVERAL POSTS IN THE PAST BUT I DON'T REMEMBER READING HOW THEY WORK.

The conventional bags take a vacuum to suck the air out of the bags...but with the travel bags, you just roll them. Hard to believe...but they do work.

Are the Pack Max bags the onses that those of you who are happy with them have used??? TIA!

I bought the American Tourister ones at Walmart. You just roll them to get the air out.

The pack bags we use are ones I ordered off of QVC.com called Pack Mate. They sell them in packages of 6, 7 and 12 and you can also buy extra large ones in a package of 4. They run between 18 and 29 dollars plus shipping but we have been very happy with them. They have a one way valve that lets air out but not in and you just roll them up and they shrink down. I dont know of the ones you are speaking about but I would imagine they are pretty close. We also have some that require the use of a vacuum but we do the same with those..just leave one end of the zip close open, roll and then while rolled up seal the end the rest of the way. The Pack Mates we have are the set of 7 for storage and travel and came with 3 medium size, 2 large and 2 jumbo size.

Won't leave home without them. Everything in my suitcase is in a bag of some kind. With the tightened security and all if my luggage is searched they are just moving bags, never touching my stuff. It is easier for them to repack too.

One word of warning - it is easier to overpack when you put everything in the bags and punch the air out. It took me a little getting used to, I kept seeing space so I thought I didn't have enough clothes packed.... learned that lesson pretty quick though.

We have the Coleman ones - Space Savers by Space Bag - and I really like them. I've used them to travel for business and for vacation and not had any difficulty with them - and they really do save space. Just don't fill them fuller than the line says - or they are too hard to roll and get the air out.

FWIW, I found them at Target in the Camping Aisle.
