I've been watching the Tour de France the last couple of weeks and have been seeing ads promoting a product called RoadID, a wristband that has emergency contact info on it. I had been meaning to do some research about personal medical id's (thought I had heard of one that was a thumb drive) so I went to their website (www.roadid.com) and saw that they have an interactive version of the id tag; it has a serial number and pin # on the back so that emergency personnel can access medical info from the website. I ordered one for my dd; haven't started loading the medical info there, but it looks like you can list personal contacts, medical (doctor) contacts, and basically any kind of info you want. My dd has a very rare genetic disorder and she frequently passes out, so if I am not with her it's very important for EMT's to be able to quickly get accurate details about her condition.
I ordered the id, an extra wristband, and an ankleband and the total cost was about $30. I hate to sound like a commercial and I am not affiliated with this company, but as the mom of a child with special needs, this just sounds like a good idea to me - thought you all might want to check it out too. They sent me a coupon code, I think it's worth $1 off if anyone wants to use it: ThanksElizabeth514963
I will let you know what my dd thinks of it when it arrives!
