Just wondering if anyone has had experience with booking airfare for DVC trip through member services.

I can't imagine booking my flights thru MS or CRO for that matter. If i'm thinking of using MS for my flights I would be better off using a travel agent.

DSCRDis...our last trip to WDW was April 2014. I did call MS to inquire about airfare. Why? I think my logic at the time(for some reason) was that there may be "some deal" or that in some way they do that. Probably because at the time I saw all these deals on the TV which had some airfare included. However, MS does not have anything to do with airfare.

I used MS to book flights once, back in the 1990s. I thought they had stopped doing that since.

If my recent experience with DCL is any indication, this might not have been a bad thing. When I booked a cruise a month or so ago, the CM from DCL asked if I wanted to get a quote from whatever division/service they use to book airfare. She said Disney gets special deals.

Sounded fine by me - Disney MUST get a better deal than little old me using Kayak or another flight search site.

A couple of days later, I got a call with my quote. The fare was almost three times higher than the cheapest flight available on line, and twice as expensive as the best (length of flight, layover times, departure times) ones I could access myself.

When I told her that, she said she wasn't surprised - that Disney was locked into contracts with certain carriers and the fares were locked in. She said the prices I quoted her as what I had been seeing were what she expected for my airport and time of travel.

That's been my experience most of the time with any sort of travel "deals," no matter who offers them. The "deals," like booking a rental car and/or hotel through an airline are almost always more than you'll pay through one of the so-called discount sites...and sometimes even more than RACK RATE for rooms!

I start with any of the "discount" websites to see what the better prices are.

Once I have an idea of the prices, I go to the airline site, car rental site, or hotel site and do my booking there. I always get at least as good a price (sometimes lower), always get better flights, often get vehicle upgrades, and don't have to pay for hotels and rental cars up front.
