I was just wondering if anyone on this board has ever used Hotwire to purchase plane tickets? If so, what has been your experience with them?

:earseek:

I haven't, but I have a girlfriend who has used them a couple of times and was satisfied.

I have not used Hotwire for airfare before, and would recommend priceline over Hotwire, as you can usual get it for cheaper on Priceline. What I would do, were I you, is first visit www.biddingfortravel.com and get some info about, well, bidding for travel! :) Then go to Hotwire, and see what they offer you, check prices on your own on travelocity or expedia (just to make sure Hotwire isn't over-pricing the flight), and then bid about 20% lower than the Hotwire rate on Priceline.

You can also ask for specific bidding information on biddingfortravel.com, but please be sure to read all the FAQ first, and be sure to post a follow-up on what happened after you bid.

Good luck!

Just an FYI for those using Hotwire.

My sister just used them for a Pensacola, FL trip and she got decent flights on Continental.

but.....when TS Fay came through the day they were to come home their flight was cancelled and they were put on later flights but Continental told them that they would not let them change their flights (to their own choice) or go on another airline because they were Hotwire tickets.

so.....they had to wait through the day as flights were cancelled and wait for the first flight to go out. which was 8 hours later.
Yes they were still rebooked but did not have the option to change till the next day or get on other carriers.

American Airlines has let us change our flights with no problem before due to impending hurricanes........just my tidbit.
hope it made sense.

I didn't have any problems with them. I've used priceline many times in the past and just loved them, but when I bid for my mom in laws ticket, they just could not come back with a price. I kept getting denied. She called on a Monday and said she wanted to come see us from DC by Wednesday to Atlanta. Umm, the tickets thru Delta was over $1200 and as much as I like her, I wasn't about to pay that much for a week's visit. Since priceline kept rejecting my bid I thought I'd tried hotwire and got it for $177.
