Anyone use the onling reservation at 11 month window?

I booked all our reservations in 2013 online. I wish I can stop calling MS but since I walked one of our ressies, I have to call to drop the dates and add the other days :)

At the 11 month window, online bookers have 1 hour advantage over those who call MS. And 1 hour can mean whether or not you get that Std/Concierge/Value views you want.

I will always do something online vs phone. But that's just me.

You can send them an email via the member website contact form to modify your reservations. I seem to get better service and they send me a written record when they make the changes.

Thanks. What if we want to use that 1 day 24 point thing, does that mean we still have to speak to the MS?
Sorry for all the ques. Just want to prepare myself b4 i head for that 11 month window online booking. :)

No, you cannot buy the 24 points on-line (and note that even by phone you can only buy those 24 points when making a reservation 7 months or less out). The system allows you make a reservation using banked, current or borrowed points. You need to bank the points before using the reservation section of the site but you can bank your points on-line in another section. The reservation section allows you to first pick resort and room category and your dates. You then go to a page that tells you whether it is available. That page also gives alternatives at either other resorts (only if booking at 7 months out unless you also own at another resort) or different room categories in your own resort. If what you want is not available, that page also says you can waitlist and there is a icon to to take you to the waitlist page.

If what you want is available, you click the icon to make the reservation and then you go to a page where you choose applicable contracts to use. As soon as you get to that page, the reservation you want is reserved for twenty minutes to allow you to complete all things you need to complete. Once you allocate points, including borrowing points if needed, you click to the next page where you will fill in guest information (names, addresses, and phones to the extent you have them). You are not required to fill in any more than the lead guest (meaning you usually) but you cannot latter modify this information on-line; instead, you must call to add anything. After you have confirmed points and given guest information, you go to a page summarizing what you have and you make the reservation. You then get a confirmation page where, if you want, you can still cancel the reservation before leaving the page and if you do all points go back to where they were, including borrowed points go back to original year. In other words, if you blew it, you are given one last opportunity to wipe out your mistake. After you complete the reservation they send you an email that provides a link where you can go and see your confirmed reservation.

As noted, you cannot buy the 24 points on-line. You also cannot modify your reservation on-line, such as adding a night, and have to call to do that. The only way to change a reservation on line is to cancel the one you have and start a new one.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.

I used it this morning to book our Dec 13 stay. Very quick and easy!

I've been trying to use it to get a SV BLT studio, but everyday at 8 am on the dot (literarily set up 10 minutes ahead of time with clicking and refreshing till it let me in) and the second I can get it it shows the day unavailable. I've had no luck 3 days in a row. If I tried calling, i'd be an hour behind, so I don't see us ever calling to book unless we need to change an existing reservation.

Used it just this Wednesday to book right at 11 month with no problems.

Cool Disney Cat- Are you walking your ressie? I need to book Dec 14-20 and thought I had to wait until the 14th to book. I wasn't that concerned because it is a 2 bdrm at OKW. Now you have me doubting myself.

I get the 'walking' a reservation, but so many people are doing it right now that I can't even get in on the 11 month window for an AKV value studio. I have even tried to 'walk' the reservation myself [even though I think it's a little unfair] I need beginning December 7th and nothing . . . every morning every AKV value studio is booked for the first night I could begin to 'walk' it myself. I know it's the most popular time for DVC, but I have gone at this time every year for the last 5 years and have never had this kind of trouble. :headache:

I know exactly what you mean. It has the 2 BR units blocked as well.:sad2:

I can't even walk. We have a December Use Year, and we're going Dec. 1st to 7th. *sigh* And as of right now, unless something changes, we need TWO rooms.

I'll have the same trouble trying to switch at 7 months...only worse...because then I'll have to wait til 9 and call to switch to a different resort. Oh well.

I wondered if I was the only one frustrated with this. In fact, I just created a new thread about it because my DH could not care less and I need to talk to someone about it that gets it.

Nope. My stay starts Dec 4 so I was able to book the whole thing. As far as I know, you would have to wait till Jan 14th. But, I'm not sure how the walking thing works.

I was thinking the same thing, how did they book a 12/13/13 stay now but then figured they just dropped the day from the post.

Didn't read through all the replies, but just a warning for ipad users because it gets us every time... At the end of making the reservation there is a box with all the "fine print" that you need to read. It is not clear, but you have to scroll down to the bottom of the fine print box, all the way down to the bottom, before you can finally accept the reservation.

Other than that little snafu with the mystery fine print box, the online system has worked great for us, even on an ipad at the 11th month window.

Yeah.....rapid scrolling on a 1 inch wide space isn't easy:laughing:

We just booked our trip for 12/2 - 12/9/13 at the Boardwalk online. Very easy and fast! We will e-mail our room requests as we did for the trip we just took in December 2012. That worked out great and our requests were honored.
