I used the cheapest online version this year, $11 or so after a discount I had. I would have used the free one but if I paid for the upgrade, it would import my stuff from my last years return that I filed with TT and would import my W2 from my employer so I wouldn't have to type it by hand. Figured it was worth $11. Other than that, it's the same program though.
Anyway, based on your post, I think it will work fine for you. You get plenty of oprotunities to stop and save your work, and to review it before sending it to the IRS. I say give it a try and see if you like it, if it doesn't seem to be working for you, you can always stop and not file. You can do it one of two ways, a step by step walk through where it asks you every single possible question (this takes longer because it covers every possible area of taxes) or you can pick and choose what you want to include from a list. I do the pick and choose because I've filled with TT so many times and I'm familure with how it works and what my deductions are, you may want to do the full run thru if this is your first time, so you won't miss anything.
