...as your cell phone provider?

They seem to be running some good deals for family plans (especially for new customers).

If you use them (or have used them) how is their customer service? That is my biggest problem with Cingular...their customer service is BAD!!

TIA!!!

We use Sprint, been with them for almost 2 years. Their customer service is actually pretty good. We've always found them to be very helpful when we've had problems or questions.

I've had Sprint for about 5 years now. No complaints.

Everyone has different experiences and mine with Sprint was a bad one. I didn't realize how much better the reception could be until I switched to Verizon. While I don't think Verizon's customer service is any better than Sprints (I don't like either of them), I am really happy with Verizons coverage and non-dropped calls.

my college dd has been with them for 4 years. She has never had a problem, or at least customer service always fixes them. I've been happier dealing with them then the other companies my family uses, tmobile, cingular.

I have had them for about 7 or 8 years I guess maybe longer. I don't have issues with customer service to often. What I signed up for appears on my bill, not too many dropped calls etc. One time I called and complained I didn't like my phone after I bought it and they gave me free nights and weekends after 7 instead of 9 for life. Little things like that keep me with them when it comes time to renew.

I've had them about 5 or so years now. No complaints. Reception is great here now and the rare time there was a mistake on my bill (usually due to a rookie store person not doing something right) they've fixed it w/o any issues at all. I've changed my service around a lot with them and love them so far. Don't ever plan on switching :)

Thanks everyone!! I appreciate the feedback!

My main concern is the reception at my house. I'm currently with Cingular & do not have a signal at home (so I can't get my full use out of free long distance)!!

The rep at Sprint looked up my address & confirmed I will have a signal. Anyone know how accurate that is???

I have had sprint for the past 5 years, and until the past year, I've had only bad experiences with their customer service. I've noticed a dramatic difference in how they are handling their customer service calls. They now recap the entire conversation and actually ask if the service was satsifactory. They didn't do that the first four years I was with them. I stay with them out of resignation and laziness, rather than loyalty or satisfaction.

Honestly, I think they are ALL the same. A lot of my friends are always complaining about their carriers, whether they are verizon or t-mobile or whatever.

I've had Sprint for almost 10 years. I've used it extensively in CA (Northern), Arkansas, Louisiana and Orlando.

The only place that I don't get service is a corridor through S.E. Arkansas. And they don't claim to have service there either.

I've had no problems with dropped calls except once when I had a defective phone which was swapped out at the store.

Customer service by phone is great. The only customer service problems I've had lately are the huge lines at the walk in service center. It didn't used to be that way so I don't know what the problem is.

You do check in at the door and they can give you an estimate of how long it will be. Sometimes it is an hour or more so I go shop at another store for awhile. Now if I have to go I just show up about 10 minutes before they open so I can be first in line.

Actually, this happened to me. I wanted to add my parents on to my family plan, and asked if Sprint was available in their area (they live 10 blocks away from me). Rep #1 said service would be available. After I added my parents on to my plan, I found out how weak the signal was and called back to verify, and Rep #2 said my parents lived in an area that is NOT on their service plan. Unfortunately, I got two different accounts and didn't find out until it was too late. Reception has not been so bad since, otherwise I would have been way more upset than I ended up being. I would find out what your options are if you end up not getting a signal at home, after you've signed up with them (should you decide to do so).

Oh boy ............this is my thread!!! I was with Sprint for 2 years never really had a problem with them, but went with Cingular in Jan. mainly because they had just merged with ATT so I THOUGHT it would be even better service, MAN was I wrong, none of their "bars" were ever in my right places, and yes the Customer Service was HORRIBLE! I ended up paying out over $200.00 to get out of my contract with them, and believe me I don't have that kind of extra money, but I wouldn't have been able to make a call without it being dropped if my life depended on it! So back to Sprint, I had a few issues simply because after I started my contract with them I added a family member so I kept being charged an extra $300.00 for a phone etc. but I never had any problem speaking with their Customer Service and the issue was resolved. I found Cingular CS to be very rude and very condesending, I kept telling them that I couldn't even get a signal at my house much less at work, their didn't care in the least........I DO NOT have one nice thing to say about Cingular! and don't hesitate to tell anyone else either!! Perhaps people in other areas are OK with them but besides the service their people are nasty!!

I did ask, and both Sprint & Verizon said I had 14 days from the day I sign to cancel the contract, and would only be charged for the activation fees and any minutes I've used.

Sounds like Sprint is good with most people so far! Thanks everyone for your input.

I've also had generally good dealings with Sprint, and it's been well over five years. I do think their "perks" are slipping - used to be automatic rebates, now you have to do the paperwork. Used to be no deductible on the insurance, now a $50 deductible.
But overall, they respond well. Always fix any problems with my bill with mininal discomfort. Reception good. And better than any others I used in the past. But it has been a long time, so I don't know how the others compare anymore.

We have Cingulair now and haven't had any problems. With Sprint, we didn't have a signal in our house. When we moved, Sprint double billed us on the same bill for both numbers (we had to switch phone numbers because we moved to another state). And they also charged us a cancellation charge because we moved, but we didn't canel our contract, we just changed our number to our new state. And our contract was long expired and shouldn't have come into question anyway. I got all the charges dropped, but it was a big pain. It was really the no signal in our new house that got us to drop them, that was just irritating.

Since getting my first cell phone I have used MCI, AT&T, Cingular, Verizon, and now Sprint. By far, Sprint is my favorite. I share with DFi on the family plan, and the service is phenomenal. Sure, we still get dropped once in a blue moon, but it's rarer than the times I'd get dropped with Cingular and Verizon. As far as customer service goes, there are bad apples in every bunch, but I have to say the last few times I've needed customer service, they've been great.
