Anyone use SkyAuction?

I won't stay at the Legacy vacation club resorts. They are not that bad, but I would rather stay someplace else. Personal preference.
Also don't want to stay at Fantasy World resort. When I stayed there it was very dated. Also don't care for the arrangement of the bathrooms.

With few exceptions, SkyAuctions seems to be a HORRIBLE deal. Most hotels tack on an additional $32 per night fee for "taxes and services", rendering any "Deal" that you get, no longer a deal.

Hotwire/Priceline is still by far the better way to go and far more straightforward.

You're right about the hotel deals, no bargains there. But buying a vacation certificate for $250 and getting a week at a 2 bedroom timeshare is a good deal.

It appears that there are only extra fees if your stay is less than 7 days. So if I purchased a certificate from SkyAuctions for $249 + $20, that is all I would have to pay for my 7 night stay correct?

Also, does the fact that there is availability for my dates right now on ResortCerts mean that if I purchased the cert right now and booked my dates immediately, I would get my room confirmed?

My experience is they used to be good but then they stared adding on huge fees and now it is not worth it.

Yes, you would be confirmed for a unit for those dates once you book.

What you may NOT be able to do is to call in advance and say, "I want room 422."

The reason being that those who have bought into their condos as time share owners will get first dibs on the room choice. YOu are buying their surplus.

That is fine. I'm not picky. I just want to make sure I will have a room. I think we are going to cancel our POP stay next month and do this. If we like it, the money we save will pay for our next stay and then some.

Feezle's wife here, just wanted to say thanks for all the wonderful info. I bought the certificate directly from resortcert this evening, and there is no processing fee. Was able to book a 2 bedroom @ Cypress Palms for 248.00. (They knock a dollar off if you have your certificate emailed to you.)

Haven't stayed off property since 1999, hoping for a positive experience!

We have used SkyAuction exclusively for the past 7 years for our WDW stays. I have paid as little as $149/wk for a 2 bedroom, but the prices seem to remain about $249/wk now.

The hotel deals are typically NOT a good deal. The RCI condo deals are fantastic.

We have used SkyAuction about 20 times now.

SkyAUction is NOT for peak seasons. We travel off-season. SkyAUction is NOT for those who have a specific resort in mind.

When you go to SkyAUction.com type in "resort certificates" to buy a voucher for $249. You can check out what might be available for your dates by going to ResortCerts.com.

The only place we will never go back to is Westgate. There are others I won't pick if I can avoid them, but overall we have been pleased. I look to see what is available on ResortCerts.com and then go to TripAdvisor.com to read reviews before booking.

I clicked through a link posted here and got the 599 so I closed that window and tried someone else's link and it then said 249

Yeah, I see that too. If you go from the link I posted before that showed the actual hotel listing, and then click on purchase, they are the higher price. Going directly to their site and clicking on purchase gives you the lower price. Looks a little shady. Oh well, we are booked. No turning back now!

Agree with everyone else on reading the fine print.

I stayed in a beautiful resort in Maine for a week for $250 from Skyauction.

They're not hiding anything - the different fees and charges for different deals are right there. My deal was an auction I 'won' for $1, and the fees were $249. I knew that and bid based on that.

Congrats on deciding to go this route. Cypress Palms completed their room renovations sometime last year.

I love staying there. The free WiFi they had on my last stay was a bonus.

There is a Walmart close by for stocking the kitchen.

I did notice a lot of raccoons wondering the parking lot and hallways if people left trash out, so keep your eyes open for them.

Does resortcerts.com also charge you tax or is that the total price you pay? Got a 2 bed. at Wyndham Cypress Palms through Armed Forces Vacation Club during one of their $299 sales and had to pay tax as well. $338 for a week was still a great deal, but just kicking myself because I could have gotten it for $90 less.
