I received a coupon for a 30 day free trial of NetFlix. I was wondering if anyone has used them or currently uses them.

I'd like to hear the good and bad.

Just started and do like it, I rarely get out to movies or the video store so it's perfect for me. I dropped all the movie channels from directTV a long time ago and figured $20 is much better than the $40+ it would cost to have those channels and I get to pick my own movies this way. Most of the made for cable shows are also available so I've been catching up on some of the HBO & Showtime series.

I've decided it will be really nice for the summer, the kids can keep picking movies and always have something different to watch.

An added benefit for us is that the distribution center is really close so mail time has usually been 1 day. :D

We use it and we love it!!!

We live on base, and the video selection on base is very limited. Driving into DC is always dicey because of traffic, etc. With NetFlix, the movies come right to the house, and we mail them back when we're done - easy!

We select a list of movies that we want to see, and they mail the first three. As soon as we send one back, the next DVD on the list is mailed. And it's very fast - I usually get a confirmation that they've received the DVD the day after I mail it back, and then I get my next movie a day or two later.

Well worth the money and so, so easy!

As one who could never seem to rent a movie without a late fee, it is perfect for me. Plus, when I think of something I want to see, I can just add it to my Netflix list and don't have to try to remember it while I'm standing in the video store!

I have also experienced a great turnaround time, and I usually have a movie sitting around when I'm in the mood to see one.

We really like Netflix, too. So convenient!

We use it, but not as much anymore. After a while you almost forget you are paying and you are not really renting as frequently. We haven't rented in a few months, but at one point I had done 9 movies in a 2 week stretch. It all evens out I guess, I just like the convenience and they are rarely out of stock. Also you get the added benefit of the rating recommendation system.

Can you get the shows like Six Feet Under, Sopranoes, Sex in the City that are shown on HBO?

We have used them for a year +.
They are convenient and have a very nice variety to select from.
What we like best is not having to worry about returning rentals to Blockbuster/Hollywood Video on a certain day. (Not to mention a few times at both places they claimed we never returned items and they had to physically locate the item on their shelves. So they are not infallible themselves.)
And never failed -- we never remembered until bedtime that rentals were due that night. Then poor DH is the running out at 9 - 10 p.m. at night to return them.
The variety we have rented from Netflix even includes IMAX films.
There are a few downsides. We have new DVD players. We have learned to check to see how dirty the DVD's are before we even insert them into the player. They are seldom clean and skip and stop. We have had movies we haven't even been able to finish watching. One weekend we had 2 out 3. So needless to say we were not happy with them then.
We return the DVD's to MN. Even if I mail all three at one time -- physically handing them to the postal clerk -- they seem to show up at Netflix over a three day time span.
A few times the rentals have taken a long time to reach them, and I have even reported them as lost. A few days later they show having them.
I use the postal service a lot mailing pins. I have not found the postal service to be unreliable. It's really a rarity.
So we have had a few issues. But nothing of importance. Netflix isn't perfect, but it is a good option overall.

Yes, all that have been released on DVD. There are also several TV shows.

I am a stay at home mom and my DH works 2nd shift using our only vehicle. It works out great because we always have movies to watch and I never have to worry about getting them back to the video store on time. I love being able to add a movie that comes to mind to our queue and always able to get new releases. If there is a down side, I would say that it is when we get too busy to watch the movies and they may sit around for a week or two before we get to them. Then there are other times when we watch them all at once and send them back asap. I think it all evens out in the end. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. I also love the no postage part!!

Just this past week, I reported on of the DVD's lost. In no time, I had a confirmation from them of the report and they went ahead and shipped my next available movie. The confirmation said if it shows up at my home, just put it in a mailer with my next return (not sure how that would happen though, it was a return being sent to them:confused: ).

We have watched more movies over the last couple of months than we had in the previous 10 years combined. Well worth the money and convenience for us. And, the postage paid envelopes do add a nice touch. Even though we really are paying for them.;)

The few minor problems I've had (just like those already stated), their customer service has been fantastic.

Also: a note for ALL Netflix users, if you have a month or so upcoming that you KNOW you won't be watching movies (i.e busy summer months), call them and ask them to SUSPEND your account. Not cancel or close but suspend. This way you don't pay and, your rental queue stays in tack. ;) ;)

I've been using them since Jan with good satisfaction overall. One thing that bugged me in the beginning was their "New Release" section is weak. But I started going to Blockbuster.com to see what was out and coming soon then searching for them a Netflix. Lo and behold, just about everything is there buried somewhere in their database. Now my queue is half full of movies that haven't been released yet and I also have a section that are too early to queue:)

I have been using them for about 2 months. So far its been great. If you like movies and rent alot then Netflix is the way to go :) :)

We use them and love the service.

When we rented movies from Blockbuster at least one movie per week went back unwatched. With Netflix we just keep the movie for a few extra days...no waste. I would say that we definitely get our monies worth, and I love the convenience.

The single downside that I've encountered is that movies with multiple discs count as 2 selections. You're probably better to rent those movies the old-fashioned way!
