Anyone use inflatable mattress for toddlers?

I read a thread on these boards a few months ago about people who use the walk-in closets at the DVC resorts as a sort of "nursery". My DS2 is a VERY light sleeper and will not be able to sleep through the night with us in the room, so we were thinking of doing this. We'll leave the door to the closet open - the key is that if he wakes up during the night (which he will), if he sees us he'll start to cry until we come get him. If he doesn't see us, he'll just go back to sleep. No matter how dark it is, he always seems to see us!

He is too big for a pack-and-play, so I'm looking at other options. One Step Ahead has a neat looking inflatable air mattress for toddlers that has a recessed area in the middle, thereby creating "bumpers" around the sides to keep him from rolling off. I'm thinking of ordering it for our trip in October (as well as visiting the in-laws for Thanksgiving), but am a little nervous about the pricetag. Has anyone used this mattress, or have any other good recommendations for me?

Thanks much!

We haven't used this at Disney, but we have a Ready Bed for my ds. It is a kid's size sleeping bag with an air mattress on the bottom (slides in it's own section). It rolls up and would easily fit in a suitcase.

They have all sorts of characters, Pooh, Spiderman, Wiggles, etc. I got mine at Target for about $20. Here's a link to Target.com, hope it helps.

Have a great trip! We'll be down there 11/18 - 11/28 (OKW), maybe we'll see you in the parks. I'll make sure I have my green mickey head's with us!

We've used our Spiderman "ready-bed" several times at WDW. My kids actually fight over who's turn it is to use it. Our three year old does fine (has the last couple trips) because you can zip them in. It has a built in pillow. I think for the money ($24.99 at Target) it's works just great.

I know you can rent toddler beds too, if your son is use to sleeping in one this may be a good option for him, and should fit in the closet.

I got a Dora inflatable bed at Target (clearance, $9.99) for my 4yo and she loved it. This one didn't have the built in sleeping bag though. But I put a sheet on it and she had her pillow and blanket and was very content.

We have the areobed for kids and love it. It is about the size of a twin bed and has built up sides so it is like sleeping in a nest. We have had this bed for over 2 years and it works great. My daughter called it her vacation bed and now she uses it at the grandparents house. It is pricey, almost $80, but we are very happy with it.

My sons have slept in sleeping bags many times through the years. DS11 prefers sleeping on the floor to a bed. Your toddler would probably be fine on a couple of soft blankets.

I LOVE this - it looks very similar to the one I was looking at in the catalog, but I would feel more comfortable with the Aerobed brand since I think they have a pretty good reputation. We will be traveling to Texas for Thanksgiving a month later and staying a hotel, this would be great then, too!

Thanks so much for the lead! :cheer2:

Question about either the AeroBed for Kids or the One Step Ahead version (which I believe is the same bed) -- I'm interested in it but I'm hesitant because the photo indicates the mattress top has a bumpy design, and DS sleeps on his tummy. Does anyone have experience using such a bed with a child who sleeps on his/her tummy? Do the bumps make that uncomfortable?

We had these, and found that we could not sleep in the same room as the kids when they were in them. We heard a rubber squeaking noise every time they shifted or turned over in their sleep. We tried it in a hotel room, and it drove us crazy! We ended up deflating them the 2nd night, which defeated the whole purpose! We recently donated them to Goodwill.
