We are thinking over the option of renting a car at the Orlando airport for a week and then returning it to Budget close to port.

I thought that DH could drop us off at port and then go turn in the car.

How long do you think it would take for him to return?
Is it a simple process?
Is the Budget place easy to find?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi DJ.

Is it a simple process?

Yes. "Buckaroo" (age 10) could easily have done it if his Hot Wheels Drivers License was recognized by the state of Florida...

Is the Budget place easy to find?

Again, yes, as long as you're driving with your eyes open...

How long do you think it would take for him to return?

If he wants to return, figure 27 minutes (give or take). If he doesn't want to return, figure never (give or take)...

We used Budget on our cruise last month. My husband didn't drop us off. We just all went and turned it in together and took the shuttle together to the ship. It was very easy checking in and we didn't have to wait at all for the van. The driver was personable and took to take us right to the door at the Disney Terminal. It is just a few miles into town from the port. Not sure how long you would have to wait for him if he dropped you off. I would just go together.

Thanks for the info! Glad to hear it works well. We have been trying to decide whether we should just drive from Indiana to Florida ourselves, or fly and rent a car. Sounds like renting a car at the airport and turning it in at the port location would work out fine.

Always hate trying to find new places and figuring out new processes, but this sounds pretty smooth.

Thanks again!

DJ

(Oh, and BD, I think he will return. If he was going to 'disappear', it would be AFTER the cruise, not before ;) )

We got a great deal from Budget for this December. We will pick it up at MCO and drop off at the port. I think the total for the four days was only $120. The code was from rentalcodes.com

Thanks! I bookmarked the site. It will be a while before our trip. I plan all year, so I know I am a bit ahead of myself, but I love the idea of flying and renting a car instead of driving 19 hours!
