I am having a heck of a time getting the stupid program to download so I can upgrade. First I tried burning a disk but that didn't work (wouldn't launch the program). Tried copying to a flashdrive-I guess you can't do a direct copy without an ISO tool from Microsoft so I downloaded that and I can't get it to run on my computer. Now I am trying a direct download to the flash drive. Anyone have any suggestions or assistance-what a pain in the rear. I started this process about 5 hours ago

A couple of years ago I upgraded to Windows 7. I have since downgraded back to XP as I lost a lot of printer and other functionality.

Don't feel bad. I am trying to hook wireless network in my house for the past week and not up running yet. I think kill the darn printer.

That must be why our printers keep going crazy! The current one is a giant PITA! We bought a new one partially because this one is so wonky, but I've been waiting on the ink to run out before I make the switch.

We upgraded from Vista, because I think Vista is horrible.

Hopefully the new printer works better with 7. Our old HP was great and worked fine but our son massacred it. So we bought another HP with ePrint so we can put it up where he can't reach it. Fngers crossed.

I have it and I don't like it. It has a bad habit of when you turn it on you get the desk top no short cuts no tool bar nothing. If you press control alt delete you get a black screen so you have to crash it to restart it to get the tool bar.
:surfweb::headache::rolleyes1

Sorry OP, no help here. I used the OEM DVD on a freshly formatted drive (since there's not "upgrade" to Win7 from XP) and had no problems.

I haven't had this problem since apply the first Win7 service pack. You might want to try downloading and applying SP1 to your Win7 install.

I will give that a go thanks for the advise.

What about Win 10? We need to upgrade however I see Win 10 for sale.

I guess I am saying why do 7 when you can do 10?

And GG, I thought you already had upgraded? I remember you saying that you bought it through school or something on a thread I started a while back.

I am not happy to hear that uploading Win 7 has issues.:headache:

I finally got it to work-needed more disk space but it didn't say that in the error report. Anyway, it is up and running-except it won't talk to my printer so I have to figure that one out yet. I am guessing it is a software issue with the printer but maybe not.

MM-I did order this through the school-but just finally got it done yesterday. You need an activation code from the school to do this and just got that. It's a great deal-only $65 for the program :thumbsup2. I upgraded to Office '10 a while back through the same deal, maybe that is what you are thinking?

Oh yes, I guess I am thinking of Office 10.

HATED WINDOWS 7!!!!!!!! We just removed it from our 2 laptops and went back to XP. Never put it on my desktop thankfully....

Wow I hated it...

Did I mention I hated it???:rolleyes1

I love Win 7, it is very responsive and I've never had any of the issues with compatability with any of the stuff I connect or throw at it to run.

I have to wonder how old this equipment is that your upgrading Win 7 on or that your trying to connect to it.

Everything is in on two laptops. I would like to upgrade my laptop to 7 but I am running XP and really don't want to copy everything to do a custom install so I am just leaving it. The other two were running Vista and both were having issues with Vista. I had to reinstall the printer driver but that is working fine now. One laptop needed the AVG reinstalled but that is up and running now too.

My install issue were operator errors-I was trying to copy to a CD vs a DVD, duh
