I called Universal and they said they can't tell me how much I will have to pay to upgrade until they scan the tickets. Has anyone upgraded from a two day park to park to a three day and can tell me how much it was? Thanks!

They give you credit for what you paid for it.

So does that mean if you upgrade a UCT ticket, you lose your discount? I am thinking about only buying a 1-day park-to-park ticket and deciding that day if I want to add a second day.

Yes. They don't price bridge, so get what you think you'll need.

Is the credit for what UCT paid to USF, or for what UCT sold it to the buyer for? UCT has a pretty big markup, so upgrading could be a really bad deal if it's the former.

They give you credit for what YOU paid. It is coded in the barcode of the ticket, what Undercover Tourist charged you for the ticket.

That's interesting indeed. Is the same true for WDW tickets? (That would add another wrinkle to the ever-popular bridging discussions.)

No, at WDW they give you current gate value for them.

Well understood. I'm just curious if Disney knows what the sale price was, even if it doesn't directly impact the upgrade process.

The bar code is presumably applied by the park - whether it's Universal or Disney. Which means that in the former case, they'd need to know what the retail sale price is going to be prior to shipping the tickets off to UCT.

If nothing else, this gives a bit of insight into the relationship between the parks and the resellers. It sounds as if UCT (and others, presumably) have an agreement as to what the consumer price will be ahead of time.
