Before I buy, I wanted some experienced opinions! I have the steel pincher collar for my large dog and he still pulls when we see another dog. I saw this collar on tv last night and wondered if it really works?

I second the gentle leader! Thats exactly what I was going to recommend.

DSIL walks their giant dog, who outweighs her, with the Gentle Leader and she swears by it. Before they started using it, he would pull and she would fall down.

The Don Sullivan collar does work. I just feel bad about using it. Here's our situation.

My DD12 walks our neighbors 2 Cocker Spaniels, Moose and Josie. Moose is like his name and is quite large. Josie is normal size.

Both Moose and Josie were hard to walk in the beginning. The owners bought the Sullivan collar and it worked wonders. They are both really easy to walk now. They each wear one when being walked and stick right by my DD without pulling on the leash.

We have a >2 year old Jackairn (Jack Russell/Cairn Terrier) with a lot of energy. The same neighbors got us one of the Sullivan collars. We are inconsistent in its use and pretty much only use it for his evening walk. I feel bad using it because when he pulls he chokes himself and coughs with it. However, even being inconsistent we have noticed a big difference since using the collar. Most nights we don't even use it any more and just a regular quick release collar and he walks better. Whether this is due to he and us getting into a routine or due to the collar I can't really say. I just know that after a few walks with the sullivan collare, he got the idea and settled down quite a bit.

I also like the gentle leader.

I use a prong collar for my pit bull. I sent her to a trainer for 2 weeks boot camp, and she is so stubborn no other collar would work. However, we only use it while we're training or working on her obedience work. While we're out and about a regular collar is fine, because it's her training that keeps her from pulling, not any type of collar.
