Anyone tried the Pocket Chair?

I've thought about using a folding walking cane/stick with a seat for parades.

Me too. Back hurts if I stand in one place too long, and knees are too bad to sit on the ground (probably wouldn't be able to get back up!). Man, getting "old" sucks!!

Same here. I had been thinking about bringing one of those tri-pod stools for when I'm waiting for my DH and older DS on rides or waiting for a parade. I end up w/ a lot of down time. Literally. Maybe I need to bring a blanket to sit on and just look like a dope when I struggle to get up. :guilty:

I can tell you that they ban any kind of chair. I had a small (very small) folding chair. It was so small that it looked like a folding umbrella when closed. I couldn't use it. But right across from me was some guy with a big honking pull behind cooler. He had that perched at the end of the curb and was sitting on that. Very unfair. I was right by guest relations and complained about the cooler since I was told I couldn't use my chair. Someone went out to talk to him but he ended up using his cooler anyway.

How about one of those Rollators? You can push it and it has a little basket and you can sit on it. In line you could sit on it and move along with the line. Or they might send you into an alternate entrance where you don't have to walk the line. Doesn't mean it will be quicker just easier on you.

As a person who gets back pain from standing too long, I can say that what I do is take advantage of every opportunity to lean on something. If there are fixed bars in the queue area, I lean on my arms for a while to take some of the strain off my back. Or if the rail is a good height for leaning back against (some are too high or low, but some are just right) I lean that way, or if there is a solid wall, that works too. It does help. I usually don't have much trouble if the line is moving consistently, even if the movement is slow. But if I have to stand still for more than a few minutes, I find somewhere to lean.

While a rollator might help, I don't want the bother of trying to fold it up and carry it onto the rides with me. They aren't small!

It would be handled like a wheelchair - left at the boarding area and brought to the unload area in most cases.

Someone earlier mentioned wheelchair entrances and shorter walks - in most cases, the walk is not shorter, it just avoids things like stairs the are not wheelchair accessible. In many cases, the pull off point is very close to the regular boarding area and guests without mobility devices will stand there to wait their turn to board.

Right, you wouldn't have to fold up the rollator, you just roll up to the boarding area, get on the ride then they move the rollator to the exit point for you and it's waiting when you get off. Seriously your enjoyment of your vacation is what's most important as someone who has had back surgeries I have to use a ECV. Standing is the WORST!

My kids' friends have these to take camping. They are SO uncomfortable!

We have them. They are VERY low and VERY uncomfortable. Honestly, I think you could get it through security without issue since they do fit in your pocket.

I think if you brought one through security and told them its a chair they would :rotfl::lmao:

That's exactly what I do. And if something happens like a temporary ride breakdown, I just sit on the floor.

There is a man that brings a small fold up stool that he carries over his shoulder to sit in while he waits for the Candlelight Processionals. Was in line when he was for more then one of them.

I'm not sure how extensive your back pain is but instead of a pocket chair you might want to look into renting a scooter. My mom has back problems and the scooter was quite reasonably priced. She was able to get on and off the buses with no issue and park outside rides with no problem. The scooter allowed her enjoy Disney relatively pain free. Just a thought.

1 - To me, these are extremely uncomfortable.

2 - I'm not sure they allow these in the parks.

3 - I can't recall ever seeing someone use one in the parks.
