I'm sure my husband would love to try to Segway Transporter, but is it worth $15.00 for 10 minutes? Anyone tried it...is it worth it? Where can you go with it? Thanks, Jo

Uh YES, I have tried it. :teeth: They offer it at special times both on the ship (on the sports deck) and on Castaway Cay in a fenced in area on the pier. It IS fun once you get the hang of it and yes, it is worth $10 for 15 minutes. :) Just do it at the regular speed; some of us who have tried at the speed they are not supposed to allow guests to use have become Segway roadkill. ;)

Jlp651, the Segway is the human tranporter that is the new toy...check out amazon.com if you want to own one. ;)

DD and I tried it last summer on Castaway Cay. The CM there let us "split" the time. We actually got about 10 minutes each. DD did great, but I managed to crash it into the wooden beam that they were using as a border!
I don't know that I would ever buy one, but it was fun to play on for a few minutes. We'll probably do in again on our next trip.

are these those little 1 person scooter things???

I just did it this week, super cool.....well worth the "nominal fee" they charged. I also got extra time as no one was waiting...DD 8 wasn't as impressed as I was....:bounce:

We loved it! They were tons of fun. We rode them on Castaway
Cay though. I can't imagine riding them on the ship while it was moving. :smooth:

We have a Segway. What a blast. It is really fun to ride around. My FIL has one too that he uses to go down his long (1/4 mile) driveway to get the paper every morning. He has also taken it to his country club which is about 2 miles away. We live in a gated golf course community and have fun just riding it around the neighborhood. My DD uses it to go up to the swim and tennis club - way more cool than her bike! They are very easy to use and very addictive!

kincal,
You have one? How cool. I've been enamoured with these things since the day Katie and Matt started talking about "it" on the Today show, when it was still a closely guarded secret. I can't WAIT to try one in June on the boat, and just know I'd love to have one. I, too, have a very long driveway, but need to walk whenever I can. But I still want one. If I skipped this cruise, I could have a few of them!!

Yes we own a Segway. We ordered it on Amazon the first week they were offered and received delivery in March. They make you go to a training class before they will ship them to you. They are a lot of fun - I'm not sure of the day to day practical application of them, but it is fun to go zooming down the street. Of course, you can't get far without someone wanting you to stop and answer questions. We got one for my FIL for Christmas - what do you get the man who has everything! He and my DH are both engineers and were intrigued by the technology when they first went public with them - the gyros and everything!

If you have the opportunity to try one you should.

trying the Seway was one of the things that I really wanted to do while onbaord our May 3 cruise. I just forgot all about it in the excitement of everything else there was to do. I too have been watching since it was still the mysterious "IT" that everone was buzzing about. Sheesh- I so wish I had done it! does that mean I have to cruise again??? ;)
