Hey Guys.

Were taking in a few different places this year during our trip and am thinking of taking a trip down to Miami.

Instead of driving we can get return flights for the 6 of us for £600.00 and wonder if anyone has done this?

If so would you do it again, or prefer to drive now?

How long before do you have to be at the airport for an internal flight?

Any experience would be appreciated

Many thanks

I flew to miami then onto cancun for our honeymoon, it was about an hour flight so really quick and i think around. 4 hour drive.

Its alot of money but will give you more time in miami

Miami airport can be a bit of a nightmare, however. We drive down to Miami almost every year. Takes about 3 and a half hour tops. The airport is south of the city and can take an hour to simply drive to the centre of the tourist area. I'd drive, as, once you factor in getting to the MIA, check in time and the fuss at the other end, I doubt you'd save much time. Also if you have your car it's only 40 mins to Fort Lauderdxale which is lovely.

Done it (well, the other way around). Drive if you can (we were too young to rent a car without selling a kidney to pay the young driver premium - and the flight was less than £40). Car rental will be less. Plus you'll save no time by flying once you factor in getting to/from the airport, security, checkin, collecting luggage etc. TSA recommend you arrive a minimum of 90 mins before any domestic flight. Miami airport is slow and dull.

If you lived in Yorkshire would you drive to Gatwick or drive to Manchester and fly down?
Similar scenario for us where we live.
For me its simple get in the car and drive down and back for about £70-80 petrol (probably £40-50 in US) No way would I spend £600 and the hassle of airports for such a short distance.
