Anyone think this is weird?

My mom and dad got married the day before her birthday. THey always do a big trip then because it's both, so I think it's a good way to make sure both are a big deal! :)

I think it makes that day more significant (and your spouse will have less dates to remember, ha!) :thumbsup2

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I like to have days to celebrate through out the year. As it is, my birthday gets lumped in with Christmas. I specifically picked my wedding date to spread it out :)

I don't think its weird, but like hmgolden stated, I personally wouldn't want to lump both my B-day and my Anniv. together. Although, as I get older I don't care about my B-day as much anymore!

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I see the pros and cons of both, but I haven't decided what I wanted to do yet. Our birthdays are 4 days apart and his birthday is one week before christmas. So right there we already have 3 things to celebrate in December. I figure why not just add one more.

At first I thought to have it in between our birthdays. Then one day I asked him when should we have it and he picked the exact same day I was thinking about. So I thought that might be a sign.

My cousin married her husband on his birthday - she said that way he'll never forget their anniversary. But, as others have said, I wouldn't want it on my birthday because I like having different days to celebrate different events.

I wanted to get married on my birthday (which is Christmas Eve). Talk about lumping together celebrations. (DF always joked that if we did this he would have to buy me a new car every year.) We decided against it because of the difficulties of our immediate family traveling at this time.
When DF and I set our date, I really wanted a date that meant something to us. Our favorite season, holiday, etc. We ended up choosing our anniversary. I didn't want a date that was selected because it was the first available Saturday in June, or something that was most convienient for our guests.

We are getting married March 12th the day before my birthday.I couldn't be any happier to celebrate our wedding then my birthday in Disney.

I totally agree with chosing a date that has meaning. It makes that day more special. Anyone else have a story about why they chose the day that they did?

I don't think it's weird but I wouldn't do it personally. That's only because I don't want to give anyone an excuse for lumping gifts together!! I like to maximize my gift potential at all times...

I know your wedding day is supposed to be special, but we picked our date/month strictly based on convenience for our guests. We wanted it to be summer, when at least 4 of our guests were not in school, teachers, students, and such. And, our families/friends are certainly not made of money and this will be an expensive trip in our opinion no matter what. So, we are definitely doing this during the value season.

I feel like just the fact that we're going to be in Disney is special enough without feeling as if we must pick a "meaningful" date. I want this to be as inexpensive and stress-free as possible because our guests will be traveling soooo far!

It's actually supposed to be good luck to marry on the groom's b-day or the week of. It's in a ton of wedding books i've read like the knot, emily post, etc. (I like reading about different marriage traditions):goodvibes

I've been reading for fun because I can't wait until I can finally start planning!!! I need something to do in the meantime. :rotfl:

I've heard its good luck to marry the week of the groom's b-day also. Some books say to marry the same day of the week that the groom was born for better fertility blessings.

just a bit of trivia for ya:thumbsup2

I don't see anything wrong with marrying on your birthday, or his.

We chose our wedding date (December 18th, 2008 *fingers crossed we can book it*) based on the following:
*His parents very first date was December 18th:love:
*They were engaged on the 18th of the month (not december..but still)
*They were married the 18th of the month (again..not december..but..):bride:
*We have a very very close relationship with his parents:grouphug:
*We both LOVE Christmas at Disney:santa:
and finally.....
*WE were engaged on the 18th of the month (5/18/07):tink:

Isnt that all just too sweet??

Thats my DF's birthday!

lol! see?? its just meant to be :) maybe your DF will bring us luck :D

I say go for it if you want I dont and never have particularly enjoyed birthdays (I dont know why I think I get too excited and it never really turns out how I want) but that would be a great way to make it exciting just think you could pay for DF - his pressie, he could pay for you - your pressie and you could go to Disney every year on your anniversary/xmas.:yay:

We got married on DHs b-day, June 2nd. At the time we thought that it was a great idea, I mean he would never forget our anniversary or his birthday....(inside joke at this point, sorry). However, 4 years later we are left with trying to decide which one to celebrate as he wants his own birthday, or at least this year as it's the big 3-0. In all honesty we briefly entertained the idea of celebrating our day on a different day. But that was just ridicuolous.

So to marry on a birthday, it's completly up to you. We originally thought that it was a good idea, and probably still was but there are days where we wish that we would have selected a different date.
