DD have home from school for Thanksgiving break just in time to spread a bunch of cold germs around my house and I can feel myself trying to fight off a cold. At Sam's Club the other day I saw a pack of this Airborne stuff and I was intrigued but did not buy it. From a quick glance, it looked like a drink with a bunch of different natural ingredients. Is this the case? Does it have any chemical medications (like cold medicines in it)? Or is it mostly vitamens or like a homeopathic remedy?

Next question. I am really sensitive to medication and don't like to feel "strange" or "off." Cold meds/Antihistamines do this to me. So does it make you feel weird? Can you tell that you've taken medication?

2 1/2 weeks and I want all of us to be well. Thanks!

My DH is the same way about medications as you are-avoids the stuff and has to be on his death bed to take a tylenol. But, he was starting to get a cold and i saw the Airborne. I bought it and he reluctantly took it. There are no real medications in it-all natural stuff. And i was surprised. He did not ever end up with the full blown cold-some minor sniffles and that's it. So now I swear by it because usually once he starts with symptoms it's a sure thing that he will end up with a pretty hefty cold.

I've used Airborne, Zicam, zinc lozenges and Coldeeze lozenges. They all work to lessen symptoms and severity and shorten the length of a cold. In my opinion, the lozenge type work the best, but they do leave a metallic taste in your mouth that is kind of nasty.

I think the Airborne works ... can't stand the taste of it, though.

You have to take it RIGHT when you feel it coming on...it doesn't work as well if you're into the "full blown cold".

Also - ECHINASEA (oh my gosh I totally spelled that wrong!) works very well the same way - it's an immunity booster - it does work when you feel that yuckiness coming on - but don't take it all the time or your body won't respond to it as well. :stir:

We stock up on it before a trip to WDW and start taking it a few days before leaving. We had been getting sick from crowded airplanes with recycled air. We decided to try airborne as a preventative and we don't get sick anymore when traveling. We also use emergen-c which is good too.

Airborne has worked well for me, but like previous posters have said only if you take it as you feel the cold coming on. It is also good to take as a preventitive measure- e.g if your kids get sick and you know germs will be around, or you are flying somewhere and will be in recylced air for hours. I have never experienced any side effects or weird feelings. The taste isn't great, but just chug it down.
I second the vote for echinacea. You can get a bottle of it- liquid- and just put a few drops in some juice and you can't even taste it. It tastes bad in water though, and only use it when you feel sick not continuously everyday.
I also recommend taking lots of Vitamin C. I take these constantly when I get sick. I usually take one 500mg several times a day.
Hope you feel better!

I'm an Airborne fan. I buy it at BJ's Wholesale; I prefer the lemon lime and I mix it into lemonade. They have pink grapefruit now, but I don't care for it. I've used it for about 3 years and have not had a bad cold (just sniffles) in that time. I use it every day when traveling; every other day otherwise. I only take one, which seems to be working for me. No side effects. When I get a cold, I go into bronchitis very easily; Airborne has given me some sense of relief in that regard. I do get a flu shot every year and try to do all the right things, but this is good insurance, IMHO.

Love Airborne, also like Zicam and Coldeeze. I'm also easily affected by medications. With Coldeeze, I have to make sure I have a full stomach or I get an upset stomach. I also try to take Airborne on a full stomach, but haven't had any problems on an empty stomach.

I love it! It definitely works. When I start getting that sort of run down feeling like I'm getting sick, I start drinking it. It gives you a little boost and makes you feel better while fighting off the sickness. :thumbsup2

DH and I both use it when we feel like we're getting a cold. They also make a kid's version, too. We all took it before we got on the airplane to go to Disney! :teeth:

We always use it before we fly and while we fly. I don't love the orange, but I do like the lemon/lime a lot.

It works for us! We use it before, during and after vacations and manage to stay bug free. We also use it when we first start coming down with a bug and we find that we never develop full blown symptoms. I like the lemon lime flavor. Grape is awful.

I can't really attest to the effectiveness of it, but I can tell you not to listen to your wife when she says you are supposed to chew the tablet. :crazy2: I would not normally take anything new without looking at the label but my wife used it before and she should know ...right?!? :rolleyes1 I just wonder if she recently took out extra life insurance on me? :smooth:

Love it, grape is the best, tastes like grape soda...

Airborne is AMAZING! We swear by it in our home. DH has had two terrible colds in the last few months - even sleeping next to him each night, sharing a home and kissing I didn't get sick using airborne!

We have been taking it both before we take a plane and also when you get sick - makes you feel better faster. It comes in differnt flavors, but I don't care how it tastes as long as I get better or stay healthy ;)

I am also a fan of airborne. One of the good things about it is it lessens the symptoms naturally while letting you takke your regular cold medicine at the same time without risk of a drug overdose. It is mostly like an herbal supplement for colds. You might also want to try getting a big container of chewable vitamin C tablets.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Too funny!

We recently took my mom (who just passed away) to Kansas for a family reunion and her doctor had her take Airborne. He said she didn't need anything else and he lives by Airborne. He uses it all the time. We all used it and none of us got sick. I don't know it the Airborne prevented anything or not but it won't hurt anything.

I am a skeptic when it comes to homeopathic stuff, but I swear by Airborne.
