Hi! :earsboy:

The campfire program is held every evening at Fort Wilderness. It starts at 7:00 in the winter and 8:00 in the summer. It begins with a sing-along around a big campfire, where you can roast marshmallows. (They sell marshmallow-roasting kits for around $5.) Chip & Dale are there too, mingling with everyone! After the sing-along they show a full-length Disney movie on the outdoor screen. There are benches and bleachers to sit on.

There is a concession stand, called the Chuckwagon, that sells snacks like popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, candy, ice cream, etc.

The campfire program is free and open to all WDW resort guests!

If you want more information, or to hear other peoples' experiences with it, visit us over on the Camping Board!

We love the campfire and usually start our first night with dinner at Trail's End Buffet followed by the campfire. We usually just stay for the sing a long and to see Chip n Dale. (it's usually about 9 by the time we leave) We want to get to bed to get an early start the next day.

What age children is this best suited for? We'll have kids ranging from 1 to 11 in our group.

:sunny: Hi,

We were there in June '04 and just loved the campfire sing-a-long. We wised up after our first night and brought our own 'smores...don't forget the long-handle roasting forks and wet wipes...boy were they messy but fun! Our DS and DD, ages 8 and 5 loved it..even though it was hot outside...once the sun went down then the movie came on it was better. Bring a blanket and sit down front or your own lawn chair...much more comfortable than those benches.

Hope this helps.

Kids of all ages (including adults!) love it! If the older kids don't want to join in the sing-along, they can just sit there and wait for the movie to start!

Where can you get long handled forks? TIA :) This sounds so fun! We have campfires in our yard every month or so and the kids adore it. They love roasting mallows :) But we always just hunt around for decent sticks - oh so sanitary LOL

They've been doing this forever, as it is one of my favourite memories from staying at FW 23 years ago.

I'm sure things have changed somewhat, but my recollection are of lots of fun times, buying snacks at the Chuckwagon, singing Disney Songs (Yo Ho, Ballad of Davy Crockett, etc.) and watching a different movie everynight while sitting on log benches.

Other than whatever snacks you decide to buy, the whole thing is FREE to all guests.

I found the long handle forks at places like Camping World, WalMart, Academy, any sports and outdoors store should carry them in their camping section.

Thanks for the great tips & info. I have another question - how far in advance do you need to get there or is there plenty of room for everyone?

I go the the sing a long all the time. I have never been when I could not find seats for all. My kids usually bring a blanket and pillow for the movie and stretch out on the ground. We were there last week and most of the animals are gone from the petting zoo. They are turning it into a stable for horses and ponies. My little one is going to be so upset her farm has changed. Some of the goats and the two pigs are all that is left. On the upside, the baby peacocks that were their in the summer are all grown up and are absolutely beautiful! There were tons of peacocks down by the Settlement trading post.
