Anyone taking someone else's child to Disney?

I have done this a few times now. The first 3 times I did not need anything but last May the border wanted to see a letter from each friend from the parents stating that it was o.k. for them to be with me.

Last year I took my daughter's best friend- she was 7 then and her parents are separated. I had her birth certificate and a letter from her father saying he was aware that I was taking her out of the country. I also had a copy of the custody papers with me and a travel permission letter from her mother.

My friend who travelled with me and her son also took a friend -So four kids, two boys, two girls, we owned two and two were "rentals" :rotfl:

No problem at the border.

Make sure you have the health card and medical insurance on the child that is not yours and permission in writing from the parent that you can get medical attention both for minor things and in an emergency.

Have fun

The same as always. Best is a passport with a written letter signed by both parents and notarized. If you don't have a passport use a birth certificate, but it will take longer.

We took our 2 cousins in 2003 and will be again in just a few days! :)

There is a "permission letter" that you can download from the Canadian Government's travel website. (Sorry I don't have the address.) You just fill in the information as it applies to you and whoever you are taking. One thing, if going to WDW and staying on property, you need the resort's actual address! Also, we list all the adults who will be travelling with the kids on the letter, just in case our group gets separated or something. We get the letter signed by both parents and a notary.

Last time we just took the letter and the kids birth certificates ... the only time anyone even asked for the letter was at Canadian Customs at Pearson on the way back from our trip!!! This time we've opted for passports.

We recently took DS's friend to US-needed birth certificate (passport preferable) and notorized letter from parents. We were asked for this information travelling to and from the US. Oddly enough we cleared US customs at Pearson and Cdn customs also at Pearson. Wonder if they are cracking down there now.
