Looking for opinions. As tours go, it seems like its pretty reasonable, and won't chew up an entire day of park-going. We'll be traveling with extended family this summer and several of us really enjoyed riding on train as kids. Any information/reviews would be greatly appreciated !

It was an amazing tour! I actually want to do it again one day. I am a train fan and just loved it, we got a lot of info on trains and Disney and got to see the yard and ride around before park opening.

Ooh .. glad to hear some reviews as well. My Dad is a train buff, and this may be a special thing we'll do with my son (would probably be way too expensive with the whole family :() on our next Disney trip.

My husband and I took it and really enjoyed it. One thing to be aware of this time of year is the weather during the tour. most of it you will be outside and the wind was really blowing during our trip especially by the huge garage that they house the trains in. We nearly froze so make sure you are dressed warmly enough! They do give you a little bit of the history of the trains at Disney inside the train station before you begin your tour but the rest of it is outside after that with no place for a bathroom brake until the end of the tour so make sure you hit the bathrooms before the tour.

My cousin's son and I did this tour back in May! Bradley is big into trains, so it seemed like something that would be right up his alley. The tour guide said that they tend to get three types of people on this tour: People who are really in to trains, people who are really in to Disney and have done most of the other tours already, and the poor souls who get dragged out of bed at 6 AM to make the first two types happy. I fell into the third group, but I still found it very interesting. You get to go behind the Magic Kingdom to the place where they store the trains and see them light up the engines. Also, because they let the train tour in before the people who have PPO breakfast reservations, you get to take pictures of an empty Main Street if you want. Our tour guide Michael was really great, and he had some stories about the history of trains at Disney that Bradley was still talking about months later.

If you were/are in to trains this is a must. Also a great option for the Walt Disney World fan.

You already have enough responses here but I'll chime in to say my DH and son did it a few years ago (I think DS was 10 at the time and into trains) and they both really enjoyed it. My son came back with all kinds of fun information about the Disney trains that he still talks about at times.

We did this (DH, DD14, and myself) last summer. We enjoyed it, even DD - I was worried she would think it was dumb but she really did like it. One of my favorite parts was getting to MK and being the first ones waiting outside the gates. We parked at the Contemporary and walked over and that was a special treat, too. DH is a big steam engine fanatic, and did notice some errors in the presentation, but for the most part he enjoyed it and appreciated the tour. I recommend trying it out!

We did it, a long time ago, and loved it. It was a 10th birthday treat for DS, who was very into trains at the time, and he really enjoyed it. But what surprised me was how much I enjoyed it as well, considering that I'm not at all into trains or historic vehicles. Even without the interest, though, it had enough Disney history content to be interesting and took us into some really cool backstage areas. All in all I think it is one of the best extras I've done at WDW - it doesn't eat up a day of park time like some of the pricier tours, it is in depth enough to be appealing to people there for the trains, and general interest enough to be fun for everyone.
