I am going to have a few days alone on our upcoming trip as DH will be at a conference at the Dolphin. So I am considering one of the backstage tours during one of my solo days. Has anyone taken these, and can you recommend one over the others? I am considering the Epcot Segway one a lot b/c that seems really cool, but am open to others. Also, how do you book these tours? THrough the main Disney ressie line? Thanks for any advice! JJ

I took the heys to the kingdom tour and I thought it was worth it. I booked while we were there for the next day. There are also a few ways you may get discounts on it, using a Disney Visa, I think, or DVC membership.

I don't think you can wrong with any of them.

I liked the AK one the best; because, you go to see where the animals are trained, vacinnated, etc. Also, you get to talk with the trainers.

At MK, I liked seeing the utilidors (spelling?).

The Keys to the Kingdom tour was great, and the backstage tour at Epcot was another good one. I think the one we took was called "Hidden treasures of World Showcase." And "Gardens of the World" is another tour at Epcot that we found quite interesting. They also have one called "Backstage Magic" that starts at Epcot, and goes to the MK and Disney MGM Studios. That one is $199 per person, which includes lunch at Mama Melrose. You can make the reservations for these tours by calling 1-407-939-8687.

Loved the Segway Experience (one hour instructional only) in Epcot. Truly wished we had been able to get into the full 2 hour Segway Tour but it was full. Keys to the Kingdom Tour was worth the price. Our tour was about 5 hours long - very informative and nicely paced. We used our AAA membership card when booking both tours - there's a discount when you tell them you are a AAA member. There were "singles" along for both of these tours - we met a lovely lady from Pennsylvania on the KTTKT. Give them a try - it gives you a whole new perspective on things to do at the parks. Enjoy!

We did Keys to the Kingdom and Hidden Treasures of the World Showcase. We had very personable and outstanding guides (Rae and James, respectively) for both. I guess I would give Keys the edge because it includes lunch at Columbia Harbor House.

One I like is Behind The Seeds Tour offered at Land. You get a nice informative behind the scenes tour of The Land. They are offered on a first come first served basis of up to 16 people per tour on the hour starting at 11:00 am with last tour at 4:00 pm.Most times we show up and take first tour then go to lunch. With our DVC discount it runs $16.00 total for DW and I.The 8 hour Behind The Magic Tour is the most awesome tour at Disney I think. You go back stage at MK,MGM, Epcot and have lunch at MGM.It is amazing tour that those who love WDW should do at some time on a visit to WDW.You can book it in advance through Disney. :goodvibes :wizard: :earsboy:

Keys to the Kingdom was AWESOME. A very worthwhile experience for any Disney lover and it gave us a deeper appreciation for the Magic of the MK. We are already planning another tour for our next trip.

We have done most of the tours that are offered at Disney. We just did the Mickey Magical Milestone. This one is also very good. It takes place at the Mk also. What I really like was getting to go into Mickey House before Toontown opens for the day. We are doing it again on our next trip in Sept as we did not bring our camera and really missed a great opporunity for a couple of great pictures that you would only beable to get on this tour,

Also the Backstage Magic tour does not do all four parks. It does Epcot, Mgm and MK. the Ak has two tours that are also very good. We have done both of these tours also. :cheer2:

We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour last October. It was a lot of fun and the tour guide provided some interesting trivia about the park. It was well worth the money.

me & my fiance have done the dolphins in depth encounter at epcot which was just awesome very educational & neat experience. we also did the backstage magic tour at ak which gives a behind the scenes look at the animals & care facilities my fi is a prevet so really enjoyed this.

As you can see below, DW & I did the Segway tour (Feb. '05). We already have ressies to do it again in July '06. We also did KttK back in '02. Both were excellent. I also made ressies to do Undiscovered Future World next trip.

Did the Keys to the Kingdom tour a few years ago with DM and loved it! Great lunch and you learn so many interesting facts about MK (plus you get to ride a few rides without waiting on line ;) )

Thanks for all the great advice! I decided to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour on my own while DH is at his conference, and then we will do the Segway 2-hr tour together later in the week. I appreciate all your great feedback! JJ
