Anyone take wine???

I am curious if it is a problem to pack a bottle (or two) of my favorite wine to have in my resort room ? I do like an occasional glass of wine in the evening and my friend and her sister will be going too so it might be nice to have on hand.
Experiences with packing this in checked luggage????

I have brought wine home after the food and wine festival. i wrap it really well in the middle of the luggage. if you could, I would wrap it very well in plastic bags. But it's always a nice treat!

With the increased baggage fees and overweight charges I would just buy it from the resort shop. I bought a bottle of white wine in the resort shop for $20 which was certainly less than going to the bar.

I've packed wine in checked luggage and have never had a problem. I bubble-wrap each bottle, put it into an empty shoebox (a men's sneakers box can usually fit 3 bottles), seal the box well, and put it into a large plastic bag. The box then gets buried amongst soft clothes. Nothing has ever broken or leaked.
However, I've always flown to WDW with SWA, which doesn't charge for checked bags; as someone else said, if you're charged for checked luggage, it's probably cheaper to buy the wine at a resort shop (and certainly lighter to carry).

Wine, vodka, a case of bottled water and an 8 lb ham, you name it, we've packed it, just be sure to be under the weight limit.

My time honored method. However, all I will tell you is that I am fairly sure that IF the bottle breaks only MY stuff will be ruined.

1. Wrap bottle in bubble wrap.
2. Put wrapped bottle in big zip lock, seal tightly
3. Put this bundle in another zip lock, seal tightly
4. Wrap the entire mess in a dry cleaning bag.
5. Wrap the entire mess in a towel or soft piece of clothing
6. Put this bundle in the CENTER of a suitcase. Top bottom and sides surrounding bundle must be clothes. No shoes or hard objects. There must be clothing ALL around the bundle. If it's on the top or the bottom chances are a baggage hanlder will drop a steamer trunk on it and bust it.
7. Put in suitecase. (I perfer one that has some rain resistance quality. Will trap liquid IN as well as OUT)
8. Cross your fingers.If it breaks there's not going to be a way to get it out without getting wine all over you stuff LOL!

Now as you may have noticed, this method and the method DVC Grammy suggest take up well over half an average size suitcase. So unless you pack light you are now checking an extra piece of luggage.. Cost $25 or so. They sell LOTS of wine at Epcot. I don't transport ANYTHING to Disney. I only do this for wines I find in Europe that aren't imported here.

And know that some airlines, I think United among them, forbid packing alcohol in checked luggage unless it is packed to their specific standards. I would check your airline's baggage information to be certain that wine is permitted in checked luggage (most allow it) and what restrictions or packing standards may apply. Otherwise, there are good suggestions throughout this thread.

I have packed bottled wine and cheap box wine in the past. On our last trip (which included a cruise) I packed rum in a "rum rummer flask": http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com/ . I bought a kit with a couple of larger flasks and a couple smaller quart-sized flasks for pool-side use.

I can personally attest that they don't leak (even though I also put them in ziplocks). Anyway ... if you don't mind not having a bottle, the flasks work great and they are cheap and reusable.
