What people don't like are timeshare sales presentations. Just make sure to say No and No mulitple times if necessary to anything presented as a resort tour or mini update about the resort etc. unless a high pressure sales presntation that is supposed to be an hour and a 1/2 in length that takes 3 - 4 hours is your idea of a good time. I'd rather have a root canal myself. Also, the free welcome desk coupon book is just a chance to get you over to a group of people trying to get you to sign up for a sales presentation. We skip it. They could certainly give you the coupon book right at check in if they didn't have this other motive.
The only other complaint I see from some first time renters is that they miss daily maid service and onsite resturants.
If these aren't big deals to you, an economical owner rental may be just perfect for your family. // Retail rentals usually include the maid service (check), but usually are quite expensive. Owner rentals are usually where we get the big savings. Also the more people the greater the savings and that's when you really value the ktichen and all the extra space, big balcony for sitting out, etc.
