I finally booked yesterday. Direct from Gatwick at 10.50am and indirect via JFK on way back, good times arriving in Heathrow at 6.45am. Not perfect but first time I had seen a flight where at least one leg was direct and under £750. Dont mind indirect on way back but really happy we got direct on the way there, especially as we are only 10 minutes from Gatwick. Too scared to check the prices again now! Settled for 7th to 29th as this came out the cheapest. It was another £200 to go on the Saturday which was a shame as 23 nights would have been nice but very happy with 22 nights. Can finally start to plan now. We also booked the exit seats there and back, had to get a normal seat for our son on the way there as he will be 5 days shy of his 16th birthday, but in the seat behind us and to be honest once on the plane I am sure no one will realise he is 15 and he will be able to sit with my husband. Last year on Virgin there was an 8 year old child in the exit row seat. Was annoyed a bit as my son and I weren't able to book the exit row seats to sit with my husband as son was only 14.
Anyway good to be able to start planning at last, thats half the fun.
