Hi, I've stayed offsite on my last visit to WDW and it was still great. We don't really stay in our room much so it was fine. We're staying offsite when we go for Christmas. You still get some of the Disney Travel Channels, to me the only thing i felt we missed out on was that we couldnt enter the parks early like the hotel guests. Hope that helped. :D

oo now i get it i guess..lately i have to stay offsite everytime bc we bring my dog and disney doesn't let dogs in the hotels..its not as bad as you might think.

Staying off site is fine if your trying to save money however, I love the magic you experience when you stay on property! :flower1:

We've stayed offsite several times. This trip will be our first onsite in 10 years, and we've had 3 since the last time we were onsite. It's not that bad. Yeah, it's got its disadvantages, but in the end you're still going to Disney. That's the most important right? Personally I would do just about anything to stay onsite, but I'm not the one paying the bills. We had the choice to stay offsite for nothing (grandparents' timeshare) or probably not go at all. So it was totally worth it. And really, it's not THAT bad. There are some pretty decent places to stay.
And its not really like you're at home, you're staying in a hotel. I've stayed in hotels just a couple hours from home and still felt like I was on a big vacation (even though I was gone for one night to look at colleges) just because we weren't at home, or at the grandparents.
Enjoy you're trip. One way or the other, you're still going to Disney.

I did about 3 years ago, and I will never do it again. To much of a pain to try and arrange your schedule around when the shuttle goes. Yes I could have rented a car, but this was my first time to Orlando. Plus if I remember correctly, I paid about the same cost for those 5 days as I would have if I had stayed at a value resort.

We've stayed off-site for the past 3 family trips and while you can feel somewhat distant from the Disney magic we loved it. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Family Suites (which is SO close to Downtown Disney btw) and it was fantastic. The really nice thing about the hotel was that my sister and I had our own bedroom with our own television so we could stay up late if we wanted to. There was a seperate kitchen and family room which made it feel less like a hotel room and we had more space to spread out.

If you're going to stay off-site I'd suggest making sure you are as close as possible. Traffic in Orlando can be insane, and then you're just wasting valuable time at the parks.

Good luck with your trip!!!! :teeth:

We went to wdw last week and stayed offsite. We stayed at the some timeshare and it was not even 5mins. away from Disney. Me and my family don't spend enough time at our hotel, so it was totally fine. Also we've stayed at alot of different Disney Resorts but i really dont understand how it could possibly take away from your disney experience(which it doesnt).Yes i agree about being able to spread out more. Alot of the Disney hotels are way too small.Anyways Don't worry, it'll be fine.Later...

There are 3 down sides to staying off site... not getting in with early openings, having to drive there in the morning and if you family wants to go home before you do then you have to leave with them. other then that it isnt to bad. We have only stayed off site once. The place was nice but it was weird that we wernt right in the middle of the magic.

I stayed offsite when I went to Disney on my JHS Senior Trip in 2001. We stayed at the Best Western Eastgate and had an AWESOME time! SnowWhite, I'm in a similar situation. We bring our dog everywhere we go, thanks to my mom lmao, so when we go to Orlando next July we're driving down there from NYC and renting a condo in the Emerald Island Resort for a month. Staying offsite is nice since you get the best of Disney from visiting the parks, resorts, restaurants, etc but you also get a good feel for the rest of Orlando and Florida in general...gotta love those palm trees!:D
