Anyone stayed in St Augustine

On our next trip to Orlando we are traveeling up to St Augustine for one night as DH, DM and DF are playing at Sawgrass. We are staying in the Marriott there.

We plan to leave early in the morning so we can travel up, stop off at a beach, check in then have a wonder round St Augustine for the afternoon and evening. I plan to spend the day by the pool the next day when they play golf and then we will travel back to Orlando in the afternoon.

Just wondered if anyone else had been and could recommend things to do. We are all quite interested in history (and shopping) and we will have our 9 year old DD with us.

Any input would be greatly receieved

Never been to St Augustine but did look into it a bit as we had thought of doing a day there this year. There are both Prime and Premium Outlets there so plenty of shopping - think they are even near to each other so very convenient.

We have been to St Augustine twice, stayed a few days each time and really enjoyed it. We stayed at the St George inn, right in the middle of town - excellent. There is plenty to do: Stroll around town and enjoy the atmosphere, a trolley tour of the "old" and historic buildings, visit the fort, lovely beaches and our children really enjoyed the ghost tour at night. There are some good place to eat, particularly if you drive a few miles out of town.

You will love St Augustine, beautiful place. Just another option of something to do with you 9 year old in mind is the Aligator Farm, we really enjoyed a half day here. We're going back ourselves next May for a couple of nights as we're hoping to get tickets to watch The Players Championship at TPC!
