DD and I will be in Paris towards the end of May and would like a stay at Disneyland for a couple of days. We really like the looks of Davy Crocketts Ranch with the cabins and themed pool. Has anyone stayed there? What are your thoughts? Is the transportation a huge issue?

Thanks!

Hi Ami and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

We have stayed at DCR and love it :goodvibes There are no shuttle buses so you require a car. If you are already driving then this is not a problem. Otherwise a hire car is an alternative.

Have a look at the Hotel FAQ sticky and you'll see some photos and details :)

I loved the four times my family stayed there - we went back in the days when you could take your own caravan though, so we never stayed in one of the cabins, but I hear they're pretty standard as far as mobile homes go :-)

The setting is gorgeous, you feel very secluded in the trees!

The facilities are very good, especially the pool - just the right temperature! Don't know if they still have the pony rides there, they were always fun as kids and if I remember correctly there was a huge onsite store selling loads of souvenirs.

I'd definitely be going back there if it wasn't for the lack of shuttle buses!

Yes pony rides are still there along with the Trading Post store which has foods, souvenirs :)

Another vote for Davy Crockett - but you do need a car (route to parks is easy though)

It was such a great place to stay - the restaurant buffet is EXCELLENT too!!

The pool was worth skipping the late afternoons at the park - driving back and going back to the parks in the evening. Also DCR is still a proper disney resort so you still get to take advantage of EMH. Only thing to note is NO air conditioning in the "cabins" (like a log covered static caravan).

But you do get outdoor seating, parking right outside your own cabin and a barbeque too. Also, the kitchen area+ fridge + dishwasher are great. There are bug screens on the windows, and shutters which mean no pegging curtains together!! Shutters are quite secure too so you can shut the shutters and bug screens and leave the windows open if it is too hot....

Loved staying there - would stay there again next time.

We love DCR & would def stay there again but you do need a car as no transportation to parks is provided.
getting to the parks is easy & near enough to take a miday break if needed,

The pool is one of the best onsite & we like the fact that we don't have to share a bedroom with the kids.

Hi, we're off to the Davy Crockett Ranch on the 1st April so if you want to PM me with any specific questions you want answering, i can report back to you when we get home. I'll take lots of photos as well.

Also, I've learnt to stop reading reviews of the ranch as it's a mixed bag really and i have no fingernails left from stressing about the accomodation.

Thank god i discovered this site :thumbsup2

Thanks, that will be really nice.

I think that's wise. I have taken the views of the people on this site who have been more than once and are going back again. Some of the other reviews I read were a bit...... less enthusiastic.:scared:

Thank you all so much for answering my thread! I am excited about our first trip to Paris! Being a Disney enthusiast, I feel that I just need to check out Disneyland Paris!!!!

LisaW1975~ I will PM you after your trip! Thank you for the offer! All of you sweet people are getting me even more excited for the trip!

Hopefully next time we go (hehe haven't been for the first time yet) to DLRP we will stay at DCR .... looks great.

Is it a huge issue if you stay at the Ranch and don't have a car? Are taxi's very inconvenient and expensive?

You definitely do need your own car. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere and the site itself is huge.

It is cheaper to hire a car than go down the taxi route. I would not consider DCR without a car... sorry......

Tessa

Thank you for the honest responses. I was afraid the ranch may not be practical without a car. It just looks so darn fun!!! Oh well. I may scan the threads to find out the favorite places (on a budget ;) ) that people enjoy staying in.

Oh, if anyone wants to chime in here, where they like to stay, that would be ok, too! :goodvibes
