I am planning on requesting building #5 and if it is not available I will try for #4. Is this a good choice? My reasons for this are:
1-close to the pool.
2-pretty close to the food court(so we can take advantage of the refillable mug program)
3-close to the marina(boats to dd disney)
How far of a walk is it to the parking lot?
When you check in. Does the bell hop(or someone) bring your lugguage to your room or do you have to do it yourself?

We stayed in building 5 last year, we had booked a standard view room but were upgraded to a water view room overlooking the pool, the view was great (I've got some brilliant photos of our view) but unfortunately there was so much noise from the pool late at night a few times we didn't really get much sleep (I am admittedly a light sleeper though). The resort is a nice size so really nothing is too far a walk but building 5 was in such a great location (being opposite the food court, it took us less than a minute to get to the food court and less than a minute the other direction took us to the marina) it made us very lazy. When you arrive at POFQ go to the bell services/luggage check which is at just outside the front entrance and they'll bring your luggage to you once you've checked in.

We stayed at PO FQ for the first time a few years ago and immediately fell in love with it! We had requested bldg 5 for the same reasons you are, but it was not available. We wound up in bldg 3 with a parking lot view, and let me tell you it was wonderful!! We discovered that we could see the high fireworks from EPCOT from outside our door (we were on the 3rd floor). However, back to your questions...this is truly a small resort, and you'll see what I mean when you get there. If it's a 1 minute walk from bldg 5 to the food court, it's about a 3 minute (at the most) walk from where we were in bldg 3. To get anywhere, it's probably no more than a 5 minute walk at the most. And that includes the parking lot. And yes, bell services will bring your luggage up for you, and also collect it and bring it down when you're ready to go. Hope this helped and have a wonderful trip, you'll LOVE it there, I'm sure! :) :)

We stayed in Bldg 5, parking lot view--but you couldn't see the lot from our room. The buildings had little garden like areas in front that hid the parking lot--it was only a few yards from the lot, but we never heard any car noise. I found POFQ very quiet & so small that everything was comfortably in reach.

There is no parking lot view from Building #5. Either courtyard view or water/pool view. So if you paid for a standard/parking lot view and were put in building #5 you were upgraded. You say you were only a few yard from the lot. Are you sure you were in Building #5 and not #4 or #7?

We have requested building 5 for our next trip (2 weeks to go). Our reasons were similar to yours. We requested the standard view BECAUSE it would not be a parking lot view. We also requested Building 5 rather than Building 4 (which is closer to the bus stop) because 5 is a non-smoking building, whereas 4 is smoking-optional. Hope this helps.:earseek: :earseek:

Please forgive me for my absolute stupidity--I was in building 3, not 5, I promise I won't speak out of turn again.

We always request bldg. 5. The one time we paid for a waterview room we were in Bldg 5 on the river. We didn't hear any noise from the pool there. At one time there used to be three different view options you could choose from: Parking lot, water or garden. They used to consider one side of bldg #4, for example, a parking lot view, even though it faced a courtyard. I couldn't ever figure that one out. Several years after opening, I think, they reduced the choices to just two: water/river or garden. If you request water/river you can either end up facing the pool or the river. I may be mistaken but I think standard may now mean either parking lot or garden. That being said, I could be wrong...might want to check.

We have also stayed in bldg. 4. It is very close to everything, also. Especially if you are on the end closest to the food court. On one side you view a courtyard in that building and the bus stopis just beyond the courtyard. On the other side you look at towards the center of the resort...primarily other resort buildings. But the landscaping makes you feel as if you are viewing some type of garden. It is a nice location.

We have also stayed in bldg. 6. That wasn't too bad, either. Our favorite, though, is bldg 5 and a close second is bldg 4. That being said this resort is so small I don't think there is a bad location in the whole resort. Very compact with lovely landscaping. And, for us, it wasn't worth the extra for the waterview. We weren't in the room enough for it to matter.

It takes the bell staff about 15-20 minutes, after you call for your luggage to deliver it to you. If you get there early before your room is ready they will hold it for you and when you are in your room, then they will deliver it, after you call. It works really well.

NC Redding -- I always blame my lapses on the aluminium from the sodas I drink. My mom, who is now a senior, always tells me that I've just had a senior moment.....I knew exactly what building you were talking about though. It must have been ESP. Perhaps we were having a senior moment together. Ain't life grand.

Andychris14 -- you choices are excellent. Although if you don't get one of them I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised at how convenient everything is.....have fun

thanks everyone for all your help. I am going to request 5 I guess a stanadard room(or is it worth it to upgrade?). If I can't get 5 I will shoot for 4(not to crazy about the smoking.) Is it that bad? Or should I stick to 2 or 3?

Having stayed at POFQ numerous times, I think that building 5 is the best at the resort. We have overlooked the river and the laundry/hot tub. I preferred the laundry/hot tub for the location (room 5301) but the river for the solitude (room 5323). We have never been in building 2, but I think it would have the same advantages/disadvantages as 5 (what is the smoking policy there?).

We are looking forward to making reservations for our next trip to WDW at POFQ.

We are requesting a standard view and hope to upgrade to a river view upon check-in. I just don't want to be on the pool side. I hear that that side will be noisy. Even the standard view rooms with views of the courtyard can't be bad. Hope this helps.

We were in bldg. 4 and never smelled any smoke. If you check in and your room smells of smoke I would tell them. They can always move you. But, we didn't have any troubles and my mom is VERY allergic to smoke. She didn't smell it on the pillows or anything. It might depend on how close to your stay someone else was smoking in the room.

We were in building 5, across from the laundry and the hot tub and it was the best location!!!!(rm #5108) It was on the first floor which I didn't origionally didn't want but it was very private since all the people walk on the "street" and not in front of your room. It was great!! Oh and we had booked a standard room and technically we were across from the pool entrance, about 30 sec to the pool, 30 sec from the food court and 2 min from the parking lot!! I can't say enough about this location, we loved it!!!
