Hello.
We were to be going to Disney on sept 4-10, but due to Hur Fances we will be going a couple days later, Hopefully, anyway , we got a special email for 49.00 per night at the holiday in in the walt disneyworld resort. I have been to hotel royal plaza and loved it , but never been to this hotel, would love to hear anyones experiece with them and can we walk to downtown disney, would also love to see pics if you have any.
Thanks
Kim

I don't know about that one, but my son and his family (4 kids) stayed at the Holiday Inn Family Suites, just outside the gates near Downtown Disney and JUST LOVED IT! As a matter of fact, I have reservations for them next year on-site at BCV and I hope they like it as much as they did the Holiday Inn. They had nothing but good things to say about it (not walking distance, but VERY kid-friendly).

This hotel seems to get mixed reviews. It used to be the Courtyard By Marriott and changed ownership at the beginning of this year.
I stayed there last September for a couple of nights on the $20 rate they had going and it was fine for my needs. Nothing special, nothing bad. however, I would say that $49 is probably the most I would pay for that hotel.

We have stayed there on three or four occasions. i am not sure what you are looking for but we found it to meet our needs and that of our friends very well. The rooms are huge. they have a sit down breakfast available, comfortable busses and pleasant staff. they are changing out all the furniture or were in May. For $49. I would doso in a heartbeat unless you are expecticg a lot of frills.
You can see the fireworks at night from the balcony. You can walk to DTD ot to the Crossroads, and you have clean rooms. They have a Disney run store in the lobby. You won"t find Mickey wandering around but for the $$ you save youcan have a character meal...........

Thanks, for all the replies, I am not looking for anything exclusive, we are hardly ever in the room, so i just want clean, close hotel accom to downtown disney, we actually had a room at pop century for the same price 49.00 i had gotten an email pin # but then cancelled my reservation at pop , to stay at holiday in , downtown disney, so if it is the same type of accom as pop then it will be fine, just closer for me .
Thanks again.

why does it say this thread has been moved? i dont get it?

The thread has been moved as it is an orlando resort and not a Disney Resort. (even though it is closer to the parks than some of the Disney properties.)

You will find the roos at Holiday inn much larger than those at Pop.

I stayed there a year and a half ago when it was the Courtyard and it wasn't bad - clean rooms at a good rate. The walk to DTD was about 10-15 minutes. My only complaint was that I could noises in adjacent rooms and outside below moreso than other hotels I've stayed in.

According to a friend of ours, who happens to be the concierge at this hotel, the Holiday Inn at DTD sustained substantial damage last week because of Frances. He was called into work to stay on-site for the duration and informed us that the windows in the room above his were blown out by the winds. He also told us there was other structural damage that occured.

We have stayed at this hotel many, many times while it was the Courtyard. That being said, we will no longer stay there because the conditions have been slowly going down hill for over a year.

IF you can get a good rate (less than the $49 you're being quoted.......closer to the $20 rate they had last summer), you might take a chance. Otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

We stayed there a couple of years ago when it was Courtyard and it was not very nice. (We were in an older section.) DH stayed there a couple of weeks ago after Charlie and it was a nightmare. He had to move rooms 3 times until he could get one where the stench was bearable to breath. He said it would have been a merciful thing if Charlie had flattened the place. He will never stay there again. (FYI...he would not have chosen to stay there again but it was for business and a lot of the hotel rooms elsewhere were unavailable because of people displaced by Charlie. At least, that's what we were told by his travel department.)
