This March we got two rooms at the MCO Hyatt on Priceline for $37 each using info on Biddingfortravel.com. We need one room on Jan.9 '05 and it seems that Marriott is doing all the accepting according to the Bidding website, in the $35 range. I doubt that Jan. 9, a Sun, will be jammin' so I hope this turns around. I'll pay the $179 rack rate if I have to because I have no intention of hustling from a hotel via shuttle to the plane. Has anyone had a successful bid from the Hyatt recently?

Thanks,

We didn't. And like you I love the convenience, so I caughed up the$$. But I was able to get two rooms under the family plan for 164. + 82. Not great but better than scheppling. BTW our dates are 10-28

I watch a couple of Priceline bidding sites and have not seen the Hyatt come up at all for several months. That may be because fall is a busy convention time for them, but more likely they are not releasing rooms to Priceline often if at all anymore. One thing I have noticed is that when people got the Hyatt it often seemed to be on bids made well in advance of their dates...in other words you would have a better chance of landing a room there for a January stay now than you would if you waited until a week or 2 before your dates.

For what it is worth, we have wound up at the Marriott, Renaissance and Holiday Inn Select by MCO on Priceline bids as well as a couple of stays at the Hyatt....and to be honest I am never even disappointed anymore when one of the others turns up...the rooms are much bigger at all of them than the Hyatt, check in and check out faster and more efficent...and since the mainstay of business at all of those places are airline flight crews the shuttle service is excellent.

If you do get the Hyatt be sure and let us know!!

Thanks for the info guys.

SB in KY, would you tell me how far the Marriott is from MCO, and I take it you were happy with the shuttle service?

Thanks,

Bill--Many of the airport hotels, including the Mariott, are just N of the airport, a little bit N of of 528. They are near Hertz and Thrifty.

Basically a 5-10 minute shuttle drive. You call from a courtesy phone after you pick up your luggage and the tell you where to go. Although it's not as convenient as the Hyatt it's really not a big deal.

I liked the Marriott....it was right over there on what I call "MCO hotel row" (mostly because I do not know the name of the street it is off of...maybe Lee Rd??)...we have stayed there twice now on Priceline bids, both times we arrived late, I called the shuttle from the courtesy phone while DH and kids collected luggage, then we walked to the pick up location, once the shuttle was already there and the other time it was maybe 3 minutes before it arrived....less than a 5 minute drive to hotel. Both times the check in and out were way quicker than the Hyatt inside the airport.

Return to the airport in the AM was even better...shuttle left every 20 minutes (on the hour, and at 20 and 40 after) right on time, driver asked which terminal/airline....since vehicle was fairly small and both times we rode with flight crews (all got off at same stop) return was not more than 5 or 6 minutes.

I have about decided it really isn't much more trouble than being inside the airport....certainly not worth the mega difference in price to me.

I placed a bid for $30-50 on Sat. and almost gave up but thought I would try $60 and it was accepeted! I was excited! $60 is better than $180 quoted on the Hyatt website. We are going in April 2005 by the way. I just punched in 3 star Orlando Airport and got lucky but it is worth a try. Good Luck!

That may be why we haven't seen it come up much lately...$60 is more than people usually bid for 3*'s in that area....but it would be worth $60 to a lot of folks to stay in the airport.

Thanks for the info msbinky....good to know!!
