Anyone Shut Out At Atlantis?

I was wondering if everyone who has ever tried got the day rate or can they shut you out? My kids are desperate to see Atlantis after watching Holiday in the Sun with the two richest kids in the world. BUT... Is it possible to not get the day rate or a reservation when getting there?

Should we take the chance or pay the extra and book ahead of time?

Any Opinions?
