I have been thinking about opening up and selling on poshmark... I have sold on eBay for several years... and I stopped for the last 2 years due to taking care of my parents and grandkids... so now I'm thinking of getting back into it...

My main question are ?

That you can only use your phone to sell from? I can't use my home computer?
I want to be able to list from my home computer..

Problems with getting paid, when moving or trying to transfer money to your personal account..?

I have a friend that says it takes forever to be able to transfer money to a personal bank account, it take days sometimes up to a week for it to show up in the account...

How is the communication aspect with them?

Thanks in advance...

Hi, yes I have been selling for a year now.
I use my iphone or ipad to post the items, I suggest taking multiple pictures and giving a very detailed description for best sales. I am not sure about a home computer.
Very easy to sell, buyer pays tax and shipping. Once buyer accepts the purchase, you can redeem your cash. I have it transferred into my checking account and the money is there the next day...never an issue.

OP here,

I would be okay with using the iPad... I did pretty good on eBay, and I totally get lots of pictures and being very detailed...it really helps the buyer understand what you are selling, know what they are getting and protects you as long as you are giving a honest and true descriptions..

Once you list an item, I looked and might have over looked - how long does it stay up.?

And are you charged if your item does not sell? so if I list a pair of jeans for 50.00 dollars and they don't sell, am I going to be charge 10.00 for a item that did not sell... I guess what I am asking is there a listing fee... as well as the selling fee? and another fee for relisting a item?
under 15.00 they take 3.00 bucks and over 15.00 they take 20 percent, is that right? ... which is kinda steep... so for every 100.00 dollars you only make eighty, then you have the cost of shipping supplies... so you have to clear about 125.00 to make 100.00 I think that's right... ?

I do like the fact that there are no returns... with eBay returns, I had to have a no return policy.. just because I got items back that had been NWT's and they came back used, smelling like smoke and covered with pet hair... I have to get eBay involved with those... and they did did refund my money, and shipping... I also like the fact that a tracking number is included... this saved me several times...

So how long does the buyer have to accept the purchase? once its delivered... and Do you find for the most part people do it right away - accept the purchase, or do they just not and let the time run out.... then you are waiting on your money...

I did ask my friend who sells, she feels that people pretty much don't accept and let the time run out, which keep you from getting your money... She sells, kids clothing and men's and women's accessories for the most part... she said she has some items up right now and she is getting out at the end of this month... she said that she feel she that there is not enough support to justify the fees... Thoughts?
My friend is very disillusioned with Poshmark and is going back to selling on eBay... so she is sorta skewed against them right now... looking for other opinions before I jump back in again...

Sorry so many questions... Thanks so much...

Curious to hear about this. Tried Poshmark last fall for a bit and didn’t wind up selling much.

Hi!
So when you post something it will stay there until it is sold or you decide to take it off. If sold, the buyer pays Poshmark, you will receive the amount less 20 % (unless it is $15.00 or less, the fee is a flat $2.95). You get that money once the buyer accepts the merchandise. So if you send it out today, it sometimes takes up to 3 days for the buyer to receive (you will see tracking info). Once the buyer receives the item, you will see a note that says PENDING ACCEPTANCE...the buyer has three days to look at the merchandise and accept. So it could take up to 6 days total for you to be able to request the money to be transferred into your account. POnce you do the request for money, its overnight pretty much. Remember the shipper pays the shipping fee and you pay Poshmark the fee (out of your sales). The fee only is when you sell. Some people say they make enough money for vacations, I do OK. As of right now, I will continue to sell. Nope, no returns unless you say something is a large and you send a Medium. I never did EBAY but I do like the way PM works with shipping. They send you the label and you can get boxes from [post office for free.

No listing fee, you only pay the fee when you sell. Its really easy!!

Buyers are all different. Some buyers may be sellers so they accept right away because they know the seller is waiting for the money, some wait (or maybe they forget) for the three days and then PM sends the money automatically. Buyers can also rate the purchase, I have mostly 5 stars (the best) and I try to ship right away. I have never had a return.

One tip I suggest is: OFFER DISCOUNTS after people "Like" your item. I found that out, quite by accident a while ago. I was Liking to bookmark some items to look at again later. Saavy Poshmarkers know to offer a discount, as that's a way to increase a sale. This feature is called "Offer to Likers." An Offer to Likers must be at least 10% lower than the lowest historical price on that item AND the Seller must provide discounted shipping (anywhere from $4.99 to free).

I only buy jewelry on Poshmark. The shipping has gone up from about $6.50 to now $7.11 Priority Mail shipping, even just for jewelry. :headache: There should be a lower price just for jewelry. So I really, really, have to love a piece before I'm willing to pay the extra shipping and tax.

Now, I "Like" something and wait to see if the Seller will offer a discount. That happened again 2 nights ago. I Liked several items. I got 4 offers back. Of course most of them are on pieces I'm still iffy about and they only dropped the shipping down to $4.99. But, one seller dropped her price down 20% AND offered free shipping. SALE! Done. It should be on it's way today.

There are two other pieces I'm hoping the Sellers will either eventually drop the prices of or offer a discount on shipping. 🤞

Second tip: Include as much in the description and closeup pics as possible. It takes only a minute more to measure the waistband of pants or the width across the shoulders and bust, under the arms of a shirt and to jot it in the description. If you have an item that could be listed as cream, ivory or beige, list all those colors to help people doing a search.

There is NO Way to communicate with Seller to ask any questions, the way there is on eBay. One can post a comment on the page of the item, but I notice that Sellers rarely answer those back. so, I just move on to different items.
