I got a new telescope, hopefully just in time to see Mars. Any astronomers here that can tell me where to look for it? It's been very cloudy here the last couple days, so I haven't seen much yet.
Thanks for any help!

The brightest star in the sky is what we've been told.
Tomorrow night (Wed) at 8pm is when we've been told is the best time to see it too.......apparantly that is when it will be at it's closest point to earth.
The Roman God of War is easy to spot. It is the unmistakable beacon of the evening sky, in the southeast. It is high in the south around midnight and low in the southwest near dawn.
Mars outshines all stars now.
It rises near sunset for skywatchers at mid-northern latitudes. If your horizon is obstructed, it might be a bit later later before you can find it.
What You'll See
The planet usually appears orange or slightly red, though sometimes -- depending conditions in Earth's atmosphere -- it can look yellowish.
Yes Dan you are rigjht. Even with the naked eye we can see the reddish orange tint to it. Tomorow night tho we are getting DS telescope out to look at it a bit closer.
We saw it Sunday night. Def. bigger and brighter than a star with a slightly red tint to it (I don't have a telescope, but I used binoculars and it helped, too.)
