Anyone seen Hildalgo?

We watched this last night on DVD. Now we have had some trouble with our DVD player so this may be our own fault. But during all the sceanes where they were speaking Arabic, we had no subtitles. We had no clue what was happening. Finally I turned on closed captioning which translated some, but not all. Of course we had captioning for all the English speaking parts as well which was annoying, especially since I understand English. Although Viggo Mortenson's mumbling was often undecipherable. Did anyone see this movie in the theater or on VHS. With out the DVD, we would have had nothing. And to get anything, I actually had to get the manual out.

that's wierd. i've seen the movie in the theatre and on tv and i don't recall having a problem.

We rented the DVD, and we had no problems at all.

But.....

I didn't go to hear it however.

I justed wanted to watch him.

I don't remember our DVD having that problem. Hmm, you may have gotten an imcomplete DVD.

We rented it and did not have any problems.

I like watching with subtitles. It's amazing how much of the movie you can miss or misunderstand.

I watched it last week too. I don't remember any subtitles for the Arabic but I'm not 100% because I wasn't really watching that closely. I thought the move was terrible. I do remember subtitles for the Native American but not once they got to "Arabia."

I don't "get" the whole Viggo Mortenson thing as I don't find him attractive at all so for me the movie didn't even have that going for it.
