I've been doing WW online since Dec 17, 2003. I really got serious on Jan 1, 2004. I did okay to start. It was slow but I lost about 7 lbs in 6 weeks. Well, I've pretty much been stuck there since beginning of Feb. I lost 2 lbs, but then put it back on. :(
I have stayed OP, exercised pretty well....... I've compared notes with others on WW. I just can't see where I'm going wrong, if at all.
Anyhow, I was thinking maybe I should look into seeing a nutritionalist and was wondering if anyone else had ever gone that route? And if so, did it help?
Atkins and South Beach are not for me personally and I don't know what other options I have, that is why I'm thinking nutrionalist.
Any thoughts?

I've been to two, both for my son. One was holistic and the other was medical.

I followed both of their recommendations to a tee and neither helped us a bit... in fact he GAINED weight on their plans!

Nothing worked except low carb for my son, and I mean NOTHING. I just wish I found it sooner!

I started working with a weight loss dietician last week. Prior to that I was a SB/Atkins dieter that lost, but gained back. I have a few medical conditions that make my situation unique. I am a diabetic, have hgh blood pressure and have polycystic ovary syndrome. The last is a real concern for Jane my dietician. My first week of following her plan saw me lose only 1 lb- which I think surprised her because my daily caloric intake was about 1200 and my carbs were still realitively low (beytween 80-120g). My fat was also low compared to what my fat intake was on Atkins. I'm still to new to the process to give you too much info or experience, but I'll try to answer any questions you hvae.

I have and would recommend it to anyone. I was exercising 5 days a week and couldn't get the last bit of weight off. Turns out I wasn't eating enough good carbs or protein. They told me the exact amount of carbs, protein and fat to eat at eat meal/snack. You could move amounts around if needed, but not recommended with me being borderline diabetic, you still needed be within your total for the day. I went off the plan when my Mom was sick and gained the weight back. I am not back on the plan and 1/2 way to my goal. I works for me and I can eat anything I want, I just have to make sure I count it against what I should be eating for the day. My plan does call for very low fat intake since I have high cholesterol and I have to watch my dairy intake because of a spastic colon...but this plan works for me.

How did you find your dietician/nutritionalist? Yellow pages? Are there any specific qualifications I should be looking for? Should I call my doctor for a recommendation?
TIA!!!:wave2:

Your Dr. should be able to refer you to a dietician. I found mine through a marathon trainer I'm working with! Ask freinds and aquaintances .... there are all kinds of ways.

I went to one here - lost me the 20lb I gained since I since I moved abroad. I saw him every two weeks and he worked out exactly what carbs, protein and fat to eat - worked around my likes and dislikes and my heavy exercise programme (I was training for my first half marathon while trying to lose weight). also getting weighed and having my body fat measured kept me focused. It took me a year to lose the weight - but I ate out 2-3 times a week, and even now its still gone. I'd definitely recommend it.
