Anyone see the picture of Brittney Spears...

Bodyguard has such a rough job...going to fetch coffee while Brittney drives.

Update....

I read online this morning that California child protective services visited her yesterday for a statement.

I guess the story isn't over yet!

I would agree that she likely wasn't terrified since she's probably used to the press. Maybe she was annoyed? Uncomfortable? /QUOTE]

Probably both - because it doesn't look like she got her Starbucks drink after all!

Almost every mother has done something dumb at one point or another - while what Britney did was really stupid - I think the media is making it a bigger issue than it needs to be. This has been given almost as much coverage as this huge wildfire burning in Anaheim! We can all agree that what Brit did was stupid and unsafe, but c'mon already!

The only problem with this theory is that.........dare I say it..........she is in the public eye........and.........she is a ROLL MODEL to young girls and women.

I can just see it now.........."When I have my baby, I ain't puttin' it in no car seat neither" ;)

yeah...where can I get big $$$ to ride around in somebody famous' car with them as they drive and then go fetch things like coffee? I'm not big but I can be just as effective as Britney's bodyguard seems to be....plus, I know how to put a baby in a car seat! ;)

You could not pay me enough to want to spend five minutes in the presence of Britney Spears or most other celebrities.

There are morons who do this daily...it is possible that Britney Spears is just one of these morons.

hmmm :scratchin ya know...now that you mention it, you're right! I don't think I could do it either. I'll stick to brewing my own coffee and living a sane life without folks who think they are above the law and better than everyone else :coffee:

I thought it was interesting that the bodyguard was wearing his seat belt, but Brittney and the baby weren't.

Denae

::yes::

If they split up, Federline can use those pictures as grounds for custody.

yeah well since it seems like he barely sees his other kids i dont think he cares
as long as the brit hands out the cash

She made a mistake, a big one but we all do. New mothers all have a story or two about something stupid or dangerous they did. At least our mistakes weren't in the public eye and judged by millions who don't even know the 'whole' story.

I know many mothers who breastfed their babies while driving instead of pulling over. Stupid and dangerous, but it's been done.

I'll bet she sure has learned her lesson!

The police visited her for a statement and are NOT pressing any charges or even giving her a fine.

Britney is young, and not very well educated, having foregone high school for pop stardom, so it doesn't surprise me that she would do something so impetuous and lacking in common sense.

BINGO - thank heaven someone finally pointed out the real issue here: our cultural obsession with style over substance. If an ugly Harvard grad had done this, we'd be all over her in a nano-second. But an attractive celebrity (with the I.Q. of rabbit)? Naw, give her a break, those nasty paparazzi, yada yada yada......

More wonderful examples of Britney as role model:

Sigh...I guess no matter how hard we all try, our roots always eventually show......is it just me, or does this literally scream "Trailer Trash"?

I think many people have done all 3 of the things seen in those pics. Thing is, they don't have cameras in their faces taking pictures of them 24/7!!

She made a stupid mistake. I guess you are all perfect. One mistake and people think her baby should be taken away from her? The people here never cease to amaze me.

Granted, those in the public spotlight are held to a higher standard. However, given the worship the media seems to have for this particular person, I don't feel that's unfair. A smart celebrity cares about how they come across in public. Britney obviously doesn't -- and for the basic reason pointed out by va32h.

As for the original subject of this thread, this isn't the first time Ms. Spears has engaged in questionable behavior as a "parent." This shot was taken two months after the announcement of her pregnancy.....

Spending the rest of your "celebrity" life playing the role of the barefoot, gum-snapping mistress of the kitchen in a Streamline trailer....

...Priceless :rolleyes2

Quote me the person on this thread who said she should lose custody of her child. I don't recall reading that from any of the posters here.

Of course she shouldn't lose custody of her child over this incident.

But nor should we shrug our shoulders and say "oh well, nobody's perfect." She made a serious and potentially fatal mistake. A little public shame might just make her think twice before doing it again.

Her only public statement has been to put the blame on others, not admit that she screwed up, and accept responsibility for her mistake.

Maybe the bodyguard could have gotten off his cell phone and been putting the baby in the car seat while she was driving. Still.. doesn't look like she was too stressed to me. If she's stressed about paparazzi swarming her, why would her windows be open? First thing you think anyone would do is secure the car.
I was wondering this as well...I would have handed baby to the security guard and told him to secure baby in seat while I got out of there. If they were "swarming" her car why is the window still down part ways?
I had a situation happen when I was shopping, a person who looked very "down on their luck" was in a parking lot asking people for money. He started to stumble towards my vehicle-I had seen him moments before bothering another man as he climbed in his car basically he was reaching right inside the car window(until the guy rolled up his window) just in front of my vehicle--I quickly got in the car with the kids, got my oldest to get the youngest in her carseat while I got out of there.
Scary....darn rights it was but I still thought about the kids safety.
To me she looks relaxed in the photos(maybe this isn't the case but that's how they appear) and neither her or the bodyguard are looking around to see where all the paparazzi is----its beneficial for using paparazzi when she its her great idea but when they are still there when she does something stupid, then it becomes a crime :confused3
Severe lack in judgement on both adults part in that vehicle--not just Brittney but also the "bodyguard"

I did catch a blurb on the local news last night, a video clip of Britney with that thing she calls a husband, where she -- to her credit -- admitted she "screwed up" by driving with her son in her lap. It seemed somewhat sincere - repeat, somewhat.

That stated, I don't buy for one nano-second some of the apologistic posts here excusing away her actions due to "pressure from the press" or the fact "other people have done this, too." What she did was idiotic and wrong, and she completley deserves the subsequent P.R. "hit" she's taking on her reputation.
