I thought there would be news crews at the Port this morning since the media hyped the virus story so much.....I was surprised when there was only a small blurb on FOX Cable News. No new footage, just a file pic of the ship.

Anyone catch any live coverage from the Port this morning??

MJ

Have not seen any coverage from port,
this morn. CNN is reporting 187 cases :(

one news station (not sure which, I was fliipping channels) said 25 more reported sick.It also said it was docking today as if it had not already docked . I would think it is emptied by now so not sure if I trust this.

"TODAY" NBC show had a big spiel and CNN had brief 'just the facts' type coverage.

Just this afternoon the byline still said 187 reported sick!

I guess no news is good news?

We didn't much care for the caption "Ship of Stools" that CNN had with it's early morning coverage. Maybe I'm being just a bit touchy and protective of "our" ship.

I guess I am touchy too then --- because I didn't care for 'The Bug Boat' caption which I had read.:(

Wow....I missed those two captions....."Ship of Stools...catchy phrase.....NOT!!! Dosen't that just bring all kinds of images to mind...yuck....I am also very protective of our ship and hate when the media puts a negative slant on things. Disney is being proactive this time and deserves some credit. I heard one reporter say Disney better clean up their image along with their ship, implying that the Disney image was going to be "damaged" by this incident and maybe the ship was not clean enough to start out with.

I just checked the Port webcam and Magic is still docked at the terminal. I heard she will be moved further down the channel for her cleaning....I wonder when??

CaptainMidnight....you certainly won't regret it!!!!! We have sailed DCL 6 times already with #7 and #8 already booked for January and July!!!!

This is why I am very "protective" of the ship....it holds thousands of wonderful memories for my family and I.

I am sure the copy writer at CNN thought they were being really clever. They weren't :)

I think the worst part of that caption "Ship of Stools" was the Mickey Mouse and the toilet picture with it.
Disgusting.
Just shows how low our media will go in order to be "clever".
In very poor taste.

Manged to miss the above two captions - thank goodness; but did see "Disney's Cruise of Discomfort". One wonders how much media interest this would have gotten if it wasn't Disney......
I was really surprised that the media wasn't sticking their microphones in everyone's face when they disembarked. You know, the ones who ask a person who has just lost their home "How do you feel?"
Hopefully those who chose to go to WDW or on the Wonder will have a great time.

I saw it on NBC they had a segment on it and they had passengers comment on it and one said I think they should have canceled our cruise, well maybe they shouldn't have gone. Where are peoples heads?

On the other hand, you would have a bunch of people complaining if DCL did cancel last week's cruise. You cannot please everyone!!! People did have the option to back out, I think they knew the risk in sailing and it would have been premature for DCL to cancel until they saw that their original cleaning efforts did not work. Everyone puts Disney down for wanting a profit....they are a company in business to make money!! It would have been a big risk financially to cancel the cruise before it was deemed necessary. After they saw that the people were getting sick they cancelled the 11/30 cruise...the right choice.

DH, DD & I disembarked at about 9:00 yesterday morning. There was a hoarde of media in the parking lot, and they were looking for the sick people. From what I could see, they were not getting anyone to talk to them. One of them was walking to his car (he was from an Orlando station) and I told him that he should be ashamed of himself. There are far bigger news stories than the not quite 200 people who got sick on a cruise. Not to minimize anyone's discomfort or their illness, but for heaven's sake, where is our sense of balance here??? Nobody died. There was no "epidemic". There were 3300 healthy people on that ship. But the media was obviously having a slow week, and they pounced on this story.

Funny how when 5% of the kids at my child's school get a stomach virus, the media does not show up, the CDC does not show up, and we all just go about our business.
