Just wondering, since this is the very HEART of hurricane season, if anyone has experienced any issues when cruising during this time with DCL and if so, what they do. I'm gonna be on the repo next Aug and I'm just wondering. Thanx

we did mid september...we had calm seas and sunshine all the way..it was wonderful!

We sailed Aug 25, 2001 and the weather was beautiful. No rain all week and smooth sailing. We actually had worse weather when we went in November.

Haved cruised in mid-August and mid-September. Weather was fabulous. We had a couple of mini thunder showers on September cruise but they lasted only 10 minutes. HTH

We've cruised in September often, and haven't really had problems with rough seas. One year (2000), we were re-routed due to a hurricane, but never had rough seas to contend with. I like cruising this time of year because the rates are lower (repo cruise excepted....), the ships are less crowded, and the days are still long and warm.

We cruised last August 23rd Eastern and had very calm seas for most of the cruise. We had a brief thunderstorm or two, but other than that the weather was great.

We will also be on the 8-20-05 CA to FL cruise.

We were on the western cruise in Sep 2002 when hurricane ... was it Lily?? .. blew through. It was headed straight for Grand Cayman so we wondered what would happen but DCL said it wasn't a problem. They just changed the itinerary at the last minute. We ended up doing a modified eastern cruise and stopped at San Juan.

We're on the Aug repo as well and I was wondering the same thing as you. You can't exactly change the itinerary when you're going through the Panama Canal!

hi, we sailed last year sept 14 during hurrican Isabelle Cptain Henry did a great job of stearing clear we went to cc first so because the weather would be worse later in the week weather was beautiful on the way home captain warned us when we go thru the gulf stream at night it would be rough it was 20 to 30 waves, that was the only bad part the rest of the cruise was great they do a great job of picking a different part of the sea to be in. we sail again in the end of AUGUST THIS YEAR.

Yeah, I wonder just where we'd be re-routed to on the repo. Not like they've ever sailed this itinerary before. Maybe just more days at sea? The only thing that would really bum me (besides not sailing AT ALL) would be if we missed Castaway Cay. The other stops on the repo are fine, I'm sure I'll enjoy them, but I'm really just cruising to be on the ship for two weeks and to be on Castaway Cay. I'd heard that if they have to reschedule at the last minute, due to weather, that Castaway is usually what ends up being dumped, because of where it is, so that got me thinking. Crossin' my fingers.

Of the 8 cruises I've gone on, 5 of them were during hurricane season.

Only on one of them did we have a problem. We couldn't go to Grand Cayman. Instead, the captain "put the pedal to the metal" and got us to Cozumel pronto. We arrived at that port around 9:00pm or so and it was like getting an extra day there.

Even though we didn't get off the ship that night, we had clearance to disembark. A lot of CMs took advantage of that. You could tell which ones experienced a bit too much of the nightlife. :teeth: :drinking1 They took some good natured teasing. Good for them that they had a chance to have a bit of fun. :D
