We are on the January 25th Eastern, and I am wondering about the weather. It looks like St. Thomas and St. Martin are pretty much around 80 degreees at that time, but I am wondering about some of the time at sea and especially Castaway Cay. Will we be able to enjoy the beaches, etc. there, or will it be too cool?

("Cool" is relative of course... I was raised in Southern CA and now live on the Florida Panhandle, so I haven't had to deal with too much cold weather and am consequently a wuss. Anything much below 80 and you don't see me in the water!)

We sailed the very same week last year. The weather was perfect everywhere we went, and we had the sunburns to proove it!!! Don't forget your sunscreen.:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

The water will be a little cool for the younger set if it's overcast, and shorts with a light sweater worked on the cooler days at sea.... (7 Day Eastern Jan 2002)

We sailed in January and the weather was perfect, however the water was a little cool at CC but lots of people were swimming.:D

We sailed the Eastern on February 23, 2002. The weather that week was very warm in the islands, but CC was a tad cool as well as the water (still very sunny).

Port Canaveral was down right chilly with pouring rain the day we sailed.

Since you are used to hot weather, you may find it too cool for swimming at C.C. If it is overcast you may not want to swim.

Also, on the beaches in the winter months in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, etc. during the afternoons the winds can really pick up. You have heard of gentle trade winds. Well sometimes it is more than gentle.

January is one of those iffy months. We sailed in January 2001. We were cold. It was too cold for us to swim at CC. We may be from the north, but I don't like the temps under 80 degrees either. So, January was warmer than home, but cooler than I would like.
However, we are sailing January 2003 (not DCL) to the Western Caribbean and hope it will be warm.

We were on the 7-day Magic in January 2001 and thought the weather was perfect. We are from Michigan so just getting out of the "snow and cold" for a couple of weeks was heavenly!! The first day of the cruise was a little cool, but the farther we went the warmer it got. We had a cat. 6 verandah room and left the door open each night so we were lulled to sleep by the warm, tropical breezes and ocean sounds. We spent "mornings at sea" by the adult pool, never went swimming but did enjoy the hot tubs a couple of times. Our day at Castaway Cay was great, we thought we would enjoy our lounge chairs inside the little cabana-thingie but it was too hot in there, so we pulled them back out under the umbrella. Most people were swimming, we didn't think the water was cold at all. Our day at St. Martin, I thought it was really hot, I was uncomfortably warm to go shopping!! We never had any rain, it was a great cruise and we can hardly wait to go again in January!!!

We sailed the 3-day Wonder in Jan 2000. Nassau was quite windy and a little chilly. When we got to CC it was overcast. My DH & DS were the only ones in the water on the beach and a gentleman came up to me and said that we must be from the north to be in the water!!! But we vacation in Maine so we are use to the cooler water temps. Did not matter, because we had a great time anyway. Hope the weather is great for you!
