Anyone replaced the clock timer on their range?

My Kenmore electric range decided to give an F10 error code tonight which google says is the clock timer/temperature control error. :headache: Ugh, has anyone replaced this part? It looks to run around $100 which is cheaper than replacing the range, but Searspartsdirect says the unit is backordered. I have no idea even where to look to find another option.

If anyone's replaced the clock timer, can you tell me if it fixed the problem? I don't want to accidentally burn down the house 'cause I did it wrong. And of course it ruined a perfectly good batch of cookies. :sad1:

DH replaced ours but stove is older (early 90s) and the timer was electric (you know with hands like a real clock) and not digital/electronic. DH is very handy with that kind of stuff and it took him less than an hour and 10+ years later it's still going strong. If you or SO is handy and familiar with hooking together electronic parts then go for it.

Did you try unplugging the range entirely for a few minutes, then reconnecting it? Also, check Consumer Reports for a recall if the comments online indicate that a lot of people have this problem.

Worth a shot before you do anything else.

Our clock just completely died earlier this year. Stayed off for over a month, but then came back to life the next time we had a power outage. Very strange!

Thanks, I'll definitely look into that. We bought it in 2005 so I guess I was thinking it's too old. If it was just the clock it'd be no biggie, but it's lost temperature control too. It started charring my cookies after only a minute or two. I have no idea how hot it was, but it was much higher than 350.

This happened to my Kenmore oven a couple of years ago. Burned the top of a cheesecake and set off the smoke detector. My husband was able to get the replacement part from a local appliance repair company. He replaced the part himself, it was easy to do. It has worked perfectly since then.

We were able to Google when our dryer went out in March. Dh diagnosed that the motor was out, ordered one online and through you tube videos he installed it and he is not mechanically inclined.

Hope you have similar luck op.
