We've been watching the deals that DH receives via email from National but the latest one didn't even show rates for LAX. We were waiting for our dates for the last minute deals so not seeing anything at all for the week before ours, was disappointing. Our dates are July 22 - 29.

Tonight I decided I'd better look on the other car rental websites but they were all high (Budget was a bit better) and then I came to Hertz which had a great promo rate for $290 incl taxes (Chev Impala or similar), which I booked.

Just wondered if anyone had rented from Hertz at LAX and if they had any issues. Also I assume it's unlimited mileage, I can't find anywhere on their website where it states this.

I rent from Hertz at LAX all the time, and have never had a major problem. My only complaint is that their self serve kiosks seem to only work about 30% of the time, they really need to figure that out!

I did want to suggest to you that you try priceline to name your own price. That's pretty much the only way I rent a car. I don't really care which Brand of rental car company I get, I just need a car with 4 wheels and an engine (and air conditioning of course!).

Priceline is a great way to get a good deal on a car!

We rented from Hertz LAX June 20 - 29. I booked it using hertz.ca instead of .com and got a MUCH better rate! Half price! Be sure to change your nationality at the top right of the screen before you put in your rental info. Have a great trip!

Hertz Gold Member here. Never any problems.

You may want to take a peek at the Rapid Rewards section of the Southwest website. They offer pin codes for multiple car rental companies including Hertz. You do not have to fly on Southwest to take advantage of their pin codes.

I default to Hertz because as a Gold Member, my DH can also drive at no additional charge. We rented a car for our last holiday last month - a week in Virginia and the Southwest discount was GREAT.

The other thing we discovered was, if Hertz has not rented enough cars, they will drop the price. We kept checking our reservation and were able to modify it THREE times. It dropped $98 in total.

Don't give up....keep checking.

Thanks for the reviews on Hertz and tips! :)

Yes, we will be checking all the rental companies as we draw closer to our date.

We've never used Priceline but I've heard of the great deals. I don't know if DH would want to give it a try but I'll talk to him about it.

Thanks again! :)
